YOUR WINTER STYLE, WRAPPED UP

Colder months are coming – but we’ve got all the coats, knitwear and cosy cover-ups you need to get through the chilly season in style

Wonderful woollies

New knitwear: it’s almost worth the falling temperatures of October to get your hands on some. From chunky roll-neck jumpers to cosy cardigans and effortlessly chic wraps, this autumn offers a wealth of stylish and snuggly possibilities. Wearing your knits with denim is an outfit no-brainer; it’s the simplest formula for a lovely winter outfit. Alternatively, a boxy jumper over a slip skirt offers an up-to-date take on cold-weather dressing. Add hiker boots for extra sartorial points.

Coats to covet

Decided to treat yourself to a new winter coat this year? Then why not go for a modern classic, such as the teddy coat, which is both deliciously cosy and a fashion crowd-pleaser. We’ll be slinging one over everything from mini dresses to a cashmere jumper and skinny jeans. Equally desirable is this sharply tailored checked coat. Heritage prints are a massive trend for winter, whether you choose the latte tones of this chic cover-up (coming soon) or try a monochrome take.

Cosy combos

Chilly days call for luxurious layers – we’ll be rolling out the thermals this winter, as well as natural materials such as the wool in this checked coat, helping to cocoon you in warmth. Complete the look with a stylist’s top tip: belting your coat for a chic silhouette. As well as traditional checks, herringbone is also having a moment. This coffee-coloured coat plays into this season’s sartorial love of all things richly rust-hued.

Pretty practical

Just because it’s winter, it doesn’t mean you have to ditch all the prettiness and pattern of summer. Instead, it’s time to re-use your hot-weather dresses and skirts with some clever layering, whether that’s popping them over a fine roll neck with tights, adding a slouchy jumper and thick socks, or putting tailoring on top.
