I tried a 16 and 18 in black. The 16 was a strange fit. The 18 was better although a bit baggy. I've kept them because they should be cool for the summer and they were a very rare extra short!

I really like these trousers (once you work out which size and length to buy!) They are nice for the warmer months and a smarter alternative to the linen staple, which I feel look the worse for wear after a couple of hours. Smart and casual at the same time!

I am always pleased with the quality of Marks and Spencer garments but less so with the sizing which is increasingly inconsistent. I am 5 ft 1 and usually HS 14. In M &S trousers I can be a size 12 or 16. Regarding the length I can be short or extra short although extra short is not always available. The result is that I tend to order 2 sizes. The size 16 in these trousers was enormous and far too long. The 14 was also roomy but it was extra short and is a better length on me so I decided to keep them rather than send for a 12. I do like these trousers which I bought in anticipation of the summer and better weather and I’m sure I will get a lot of wear out of them but the process was a bit tedious.

Great spring wear, not too light a material, only drawback is even extra short length is a bit on the long side, seems to be an issue with a lot of M & S trousers.
