INSTAGRAM INSIDERS: LATE-SUMMER STYLE

Want to nail Insta-worthy style? Then you need to follow the M&S Insiders on Instagram. Below, five of the team in the know share their favourite pieces that will work now and next season too

Dominique’s style: cool cardigans

“Although I’m always sad when the weather takes a turn for the worst, a bright cardigan like this cotton cable-knit style peps up my mood. I’ve paired it with a coated jacket which is lightweight and the perfect piece to wear when it’s warm and wet outside. Similarly, a slip skirt and fine-gauge cardigan is an easy combo and can be dressed up or down. I like to think this outfit is inspired by American ‘soccer moms’ – am I the only one who creates characters when getting dressed?”

Sam’s style: printed dresses

“I’m a petite wee lass but really like the maxi look of these standard-length midi dresses on my frame. The pattern on the first dress is uniquely eye-catching and the colours work brilliantly together. A versatile dress is always a great choice for work with some heels or boots, and an eclectic option at the weekend styled with trainers. Both dresses feature a structured, waisted fit that really flatters your figure while the all-over scarf-inspired paisley prints make a subtle statement.”

Rachel’s style: denim updates

“All hail another cracking jumpsuit! This one is brilliant because you really can mix the look up a bit depending on how you style it – add a striped Breton underneath for a preppy vibe (roll up the sleeves so you get stripes at the cuff too) or try adding strappy heels to ramp it up a notch. And a denim jacket is a total wardrobe failsafe. This light-wash option has a Nineties’ feel which is so right for now.”

Jess’s style: tailoring

Tailoring earns its keep in my wardrobe – a well-cut blazer has the ability to sharpen any outfit. I love how smart jackets like these instantly add a preppy edge to a look, whether paired with shorts and heels for warm summer evenings or styled with jeans and a polo neck in the autumn months. In my opinion, a blazer is the perfect transitional piece, whether you opt for timeless checks or corduroy.”

Charlotte’s style: statement accessories

“Sometimes styling is all in the details, so a simple tee and jeans combo can be made into a standout look with bold accessories. A chunky necklace, killer pair of shoes or head-turning pair of sunglasses can take an otherwise understated outfit to a whole new level of style. And, as for these amazing handbags, let’s just say that Marks & Spencer’s bag game is strong this season (and such good value) I’m allowing myself some extra purchases.”
