It’s a fact: beige is the hottest colour for spring/summer 2019. And it certainly doesn’t have to look drab. Here’s our guide to the most stylish way to wear this fashion-editor-approved palette.
Beige is the colour of the season. Seen across the catwalks and street style, this shade is the byword for chic, power dressing right now. While the terms ‘bland’ and ‘boring’ might automatically spring to mind, beige dressing is surprisingly beautiful, spanning the palette from biscuit to ivory, via delicious-sounding pit stops like toffee, cappuccino and oatmeal. Pick a range of pieces from the beige colour spectrum and you’ll always look fabulously groomed, whether it’s a luxurious suede skirt and casual white blouse, or a beige longline blazer over creamy coordinates.
Burberry, Dior and Tibi were among the designers championing beige in their spring/summer 2019 catwalk shows, with trenches, trouser suits, skirts and shoes all making an appearance. If you want an easy way into the trend, pick a simple piece like a classic belted trench or silky blouse and team it with perennial favourites like a white summer dress or tan sandals. It’s likely you’ve got a few of the building blocks of this trend in your wardrobe already; all you need is a few carefully picked additions to complete the head-to-toe look.”
To get the most out of the trend, layer up tonal shades for an effortlessly cool result. It could be as simple as a button-down vest and casual trousers with a coat, or as fashion forward as a jumpsuit and blazer co-ord (we love this for a new take on wedding guest dressing). Above all, think about your skin tone: a golden palette of beige will look great on warm skin, whereas cooler complexions suit more muted takes like oyster grey or taupe.
