SOPHIE’S SEPTEMBER FAVOURITES

Discover senior content editor Sophie’s best buys for September, including a designer-inspired bag and the perfect camel coat for winter

“Autumn is always the most STYLISH season, and M&S has pulled it out of the bag with these covetable pieces”

“A great pair of leather trousers is a capsule wardrobe staple – no question. But, finding a great pair can be a challenge; happily these straight-leg cropped leather trousers tick all the boxes. A trend-led shape, tick. A chic ankle-grazing length, tick. Pockets, tick. Wear with a snug jumper as above or with a silk blouse come holiday party season.”

“I’ve been obsessed with finding the perfect winter coat ever since I was a teenager lusting over Cameron Diaz’s enviable selection in The Holiday. Well, this year, I think I’ve nailed it. Camel, belted, longline and made from ultra-warm wool, this Autograph design ticks every box on my fantasy coat list. I’ll be pulling it out every winter for years to come.”

“As we all know, the main point of having a child is to dress them up. My daughter is at a particularly adorable stage right now (appearance rather than behaviour-wise, I hasten to add), which means she’ll look cute as a button in this printed bobble hat. The only challenge will be persuading her to keep it on her head for more than 15 seconds…”

“Bottega Veneta’s ‘croissant bag’ (so-called because of the gathered shape, not entirely dissimilar to a pastry) is one of the biggest accessory hits of recent times, but you’ll need a couple of grand spare in your bank account to get one. Luckily, this buttery leather bag does the job for me, inspired by the on-trend shape and with enough space to fit my purse, phone and a random assortment of toddler paraphernalia inside.”

“I’ve been colouring my hair blonde for so long that it was a genuine shock when my roots grew out during lockdown and I rediscovered my truly boring natural hair colour. As soon as possible, I was back in the salon chair having more lovely bleach put in. One product I always recommend for blondes is a ‘purple shampoo’ (it’s bright violet, to neutralise brassiness). This one is excellent, as is Philip Kingsley’s Elasticizer, which helps to counteract any damage caused by bleach."
