Style tip: lighten those layers
You can rely on the summer weather to be extremely unreliable, hence a wardrobe that consists entirely of shorts and T-shirts is going to cause problems. Instead, you need light, breathable layers in seasonal tones – nothing too dark and heavy. Tom Lloyd (@thomas.m.lloyd) nails the less-than-boiling-summer-day look with this cream overshirt paired with a white shirt and cotton-rich corduroy trousers. Loosely tuck in the shirt and wear with an open collar for a more laid-back feel.
Style tip: embrace pattern
If ever there was a summer to embrace the joy of print and colour, it’s this one. For some people, joyful dressing means full-on, look-at-me style – if this if you, then a gloriously exuberant Hawaiian shirt will tick the box. Others prefer a more pared-back approach to pattern, such as a simple striped shirt, like the one worn here by our very own M&S Insider Rob (@marksandspencer_rob). It looks great worn over a white T-shirt with slim-fit chinos, or team with shorts as the weather gets warmer.
