Spend an afternoon baking

From cupcake decorating to whipping up treats to give as gifts to teachers, friends and family, baking is a great way to get the children involved in Christmas activities and prep. Treat budding pastry chefs to this kids’ Christmas baking set, which includes a whisk, spatula and rolling pin as well as gingerbread and Christmas tree cookie cutters.

Watch Christmas films and play board games in matching pyjamas

Take a well-earned break – and calm down overexcited little ones – by curling up on the sofa together with a festive flick. Dial up the cosiness factor with some snacks, snuggly blankets, and matching pyjamas for the whole family. These traditional tartan pyjamas, available in men’s, women’s, and kids’ sizes, are made from cotton for extra comfort, or get in the festive spirit with Percy Pig. Let each member of the family pick a film over the Christmas period to avoid any arguments about what to watch. If there’s nothing good on the telly, why not play a classic game together? You can find family favourites from Harry Potter Ludo to a Percy Pig jigsaw puzzle at M&S.

Decorate the tree together

Decorating the Christmas tree together is a great way to create some fun festive memories – although you might have to neaten things up after they’ve gone to bed. Create a family tradition by allowing kids to pick a brand-new bauble each Christmas. We have plenty of eye-catching ornaments that kids will love, including this glitter-encrusted lobster bauble, a quirky glass unicorn and a roarsome dinosaur. If you’re a bit protective over your tree theme (we totally understand), put a mini-Christmas tree in kids’ bedrooms and let their creativity run wild.
