THE BRIDAL SKINCARE GUIDE

Want to make sure you’ve got your best glow ever on your big day? Read on to discover your perfect pre-wedding skincare routine

Getting started

6 months before your wedding: Start using a retinol product

Retinol makes fine lines and blemishes less noticeable. If you want to begin using a retinol product, do so at least six months before your wedding to give your skin time to adjust. It’s common to experience dryness and flakiness for the first few weeks.

If you’re a retinol first-timer or have sensitive skin, try a product with a lower concentration of retinol first – between around 0.3% and 1%. After that, you can work your way up to a stronger percentage if you like. Our retinol products include Murad’s Retinol Renewal kit, which features a night cream and an eye serum, and Pixi’s Overnight Retinol Oil.

3 months before your wedding: Start using an exfoliator

Start exfoliating regularly three months before your big day. This will give you time to see how your skin reacts – switch to something gentler if you notice irritation. We recommend Ren’s Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic – thanks to exfoliating AHAs and BHAs, this multi-tasking toner gets rid of dead skin cells, decongests pores and brightens your complexion.

Love a good textured face scrub? Opt for our Fresh Elements Ex-Glowliate treatment, which contains natural jojoba beads and glow-boosting vitamin C. Use it two to three times weekly, and you’ll soon look radiant.

Approaching the wedding day

1 week before your wedding: Focus on hydration

In the week before you say ‘I do’, it’s all about aiming for your healthiest skin ever. Treat yourself to a luxe moisturiser to smooth and plump – we recommend Origins’ Ginzing Ultra-Hydrating Energy-Boosting Cream in the morning, and the Ultimate Sleep Cream from our Formula range at night. Remember to drink enough water and get plenty of sleep, too.

The night before your wedding: Do a face mask

We know you’ll be busy with last-minute preparations, but it’s a good idea to take some time out and relax with a face mask the night before. Choose one that’s tailored to your skin’s needs. If you want to calm any redness or irritation, try Ren’s Evercalm Ultra-Comforting Rescue Mask, or for a last-minute radiance boost, opt for Emma Hardie’s Moringa Renewal Treatment Mask.

The morning of your wedding: Use a great primer

To ensure your make-up lasts all day and look your best in all those photos, choose a brilliant base. Pur’s 4-in-1 wonder product smooths and brightens, as well as reducing any redness for a flawless look.
