Very disappointing

Although on first appearances the parasol looks fine when fitting it into the table, it is too loose in the centre hole and should come with a base to prevent it lifting out of said hole.

Hi Sue Hope this Email finds you well. Thanks for leaving your review. This parasol requires a base that has to be purchased separately, we offer several options to choose from on our website. Since your review we have also amended our product descpription to inform other customers. Kind Regards, Cindy

Really enjoying the parasol. Easy to erect. Just needed a sturdy base to support the parasol

Lovely but far too tall.
Originally posted on marksandspencer.com (UK)
This parasol looks good and modern and is nice and sturdy. However, it is too tall to be effective as shade from the sun. It is 8 feet tall which is ridiculous and it needs to be significantly shorter so I am going to see if I can get it shortened which is an additional expense.

Unfortunately when we opened this parasol, we discovered that it had tears in the fabric. Not really fit for purpose.

This parasol fitted perfectly over our oval table. The cloth and framework is made of sturdy material.

On the whole quite pleased but beware it is very heavy and does not come with a pull cord which is mentioned in previous reviews. I bought it as reviews mentioned it had a pull cord. It doesn't and is very hard to erect unless you are 6 feet tall.

Looks good but totally impractical and dangerous Nearly 8ft high and not able to split for lifting into position and winter storage. On its way back to M&S.

OK but M&S reviews are misleading
Originally posted on marksandspencer.com (UK)
This is a lot bigger and heavier than anticipated. M&S need to update the reviews for this parasol, many of them are misleading and do not bear any relation to it - presumably the design has been changed. In particular, it does not come apart for storage, which I wanted, and it does not come with a cover.

This umbrella is not worth the money, the wood is cheap,it come apart in the middle. I wouldn't bother getting this.

Put this up today, the hottest day of the year so we were able to sit in the garden. Lovely colour and does the job fine. Very sturdy and hopefully will last.

I bought 3 parasols...this was the third and it's quality, style and sturdiness left the first two (I'd bought elsewhere) literally in the shade! It also has a Miss Marple vintage feel which I love.

Very nice parasol, my only concern is that the long dangling rope is a potential hazard for children.

My garage is littered with expensive, elaborate, and now broken parasols. I decided to try this simple version and am so pleased I am thinking of ordering another one. It is well built. The pulley system works well. It even has its own carry bag. The green gives a calming reflection and goes well with my grey outdoor furniture. Impressive delivery time too.

Chosen to match M&S bistro tables & chairs. Colour, sage green, matches furniture well and very restful colour. Easy to assemble, useful storage cover and very well made. Excellent value for money. Item arrived within 48 hours of ordering, well packaged. Packaging sturdy and we'll retain to provide extra protection to parasol whilst it 'over-winters' in the garage....

Great delivery. Ordered midday Wednesday, delivered 2.15 Friday. Looks good but I would question the description of ‘solid eucalyptus’ as the finial and the hub where the struts meet looks like a composite and not wood. Product description could be confusing as one says sun protection equivalent to UPF50+ and another says not to be used instead of sunscreen. It will take a period of use before I could comment of fitness of purpose. For some reason I am unable to upload the photos I took of the parasol or the leaflet showing the description. Initial indications are good.

Bought to replace a slightly smaller parasol which developed some small holes overwinter (not M&S) - I am delighted with my new parasol which seems to give a larger area of shade. The only thing is that because it needs unscrewing from the base and is fairly weighty, I would now leave it out (folded down) overnight whereas I used to take the top off my original one and store it inside. It says it’s water resistant so I hope this is sufficient that the canvas won’t suffer being left outside overnight in summer. Obviously, at the end of the season I’ll take it inside. Overall it looks a quality product and I am pleased with my purchase. Delivery was quick and the parasol was very well packed. It included a nice storage bag - but perhaps a outdoors cover would Be more useful in view of the above?
