Three pairs for my husband!

My husband has lost a lot of weight and therefore it is a bit hit and miss in finding trousers that fit him. I ordered the slim fit because have found in the past (when my husband was larger) that M&S trousers were larger all over and not just on the waist. We both like these particular trousers and having ordered them in navy and a taupe type colour then ordered again in charcoal. Always have a problem with the length though as the mens trousers stop at 29" - my husband is probably 27"-28" so they always need shortening. Maybe M&S should add another shorter leg size to their collections.

Marked Inconsistency of sizes

No, I don't recommend this
Having tried these trousers on in store in Aberdeen, my husband liked the trousers but wasn’t sure about slim fit so didn’t buy on the day (he usually wears regular/ straight fit). Had a look on line but they’re only available in slim fit so ordered a pair in the same size he’d tried in store. On trying them on they were at least 2 inches too small at the waist! This is very poor quality control and way below our expectations of M&S - same size should mean same size! So it’s another trip to Aberdeen again so he can make sure he gets a pair that fit.

My husband bought a pair of these navy trousers and liked them so much came back to buy of black ones in the same style. They fit the requirement of smart casual. The quality is good and the stretch gives an excellent fit.

I bought these for my husband. They are great and so comfortable. They look good and fit well but we did buy short length as his usual regular length was too long.

Great chinos overall, but not long before I was feeling less well-off than I thought I should be! Just don't put loose change in the pockets - it will disappear down the settee cushions if the wife doesn't find it first. Cost me a fortune so far. Re-design the pockets please.

These are my husband's fave trousers since they are only a little less comfortable than sweatpants, but he can wear them to work without getting disapproving looks. The material is soft and relatively stretchy - not as stretchy as M&S girl jeans though. Importantly, the chinos don't seem to stretch with wear. We have found that they don't wash well with washing powder, but liquitabs are fine. I think they look fine without ironing: black is very forgiving.

Good but production quality / issue. AVOID

Very nice pair of trousers from M&S but production / quality concerns with this style. Had purchased two pairs and on both the seam on the back pocket corner had come apart after 1 week and had to return. Seems common issue as mentioned in other reviews (should have read before purchasing) and even evident on display trousers.

Interesting material, shame about the zip

I bought these for my husband whose comments are :- Interesting stretchy material which is comfortable. Will review again in a month or two when I have worn them for a while. Fly zip unfortunately only 15cm long which is 1cm shorter than the minimum for comfort. Older M&S trousers all had zips 16cm long which made life much easier. First pair bought was labelled 32 waist and 31 leg but was actually 34/33. Able to change them in store but unable to get the same colour - annoying!

The stitching came apart from the back pockets within 2 days of wearing, exchanged for another pair and had the same problem on pockets and leg. I went into the store and found 2 other pairs on the rail like this also. I am a huge fan of M&S and Chino, but think there maybe a production design issue with this line.

Not Worth the money

For £39-95 I was expecting a quality product they were too short nowhere near the ordered leg length. These are not what I would class as smart Chinos when compared to previous ones I have bought - they should be in the £19-99 range. Will be going back. When will M&S issue their suppliers with a standard size tape measure by which they all use, it is a complete lottery if you get the size advertised these days

Tore at top inside corner of rear pockets.

These fitted well, nice and tapered. However first day I wore them someone pointed out that the top inner corners of both rear pockets had come apart. Made 50 mile round trip to replace them, went to customer services to do the swap. On further testing the same corner of both rear pockets tore again. Looking at other pairs back on the shop floor there were many with this problem! Shame I really liked these. I see one other person here had this issue, I bet if other customers looked some of them would find the same problem. ( I bought mine in 2 shops over 100 miles apart, so if this is a rogue batch it's probably a pretty big one!)

Nearly the best chinos ever

These are quite possibly the best chinos I have ever come across. They are superb in just about ever department, except one thing. This is in the quality of the stitching for the rear pockets. I have three pairs and they all develop holes next to each rear pocket within 48 hours of wearing then. I have hand stitched all of them to reinforce them. I am hoping it stays. For 40 pounds it is not acceptable for this fault.

I was hoping the fit might be better with more elastane. Maybe the fault is mine and not the trews!
