Well made

I picked this up in the sale, and unfortunately could only get a size smaller than I usually take, which made it a bit too tight at the bust although rest of dress was fine. It was well made, plenty of material and I would have kept it had it been slightly bigger. Perfect for recent hot weather or holidays.

Bought in the sale so a reasonable price. The dress is a perfect fit for me as a standard M&S rather busty s14 and ideal for the hot weather. It's a lightweight gingham cotton and lined in lightweight white cotton, so not too heavy. The straps are wide which I prefer for everyday being of near pensionable age! The only fault that the straps really do need to be self-lined or, at least, in the white cotton lining fabric. Will have to see how it washes

I really liked this dress when I saw it in the shop but when I orderd it online and tried it on at home it wasn't the right fit for me. It was too long and the style didn't suit my figure. it was a shame as it was a lovely dress but had to return it.

Lovely dress but too big on bodice. So returned it and ordered next size down. The style and material are lovely.

It is a lovely dress but not available in “short” fittings. I spent ages unpicking the frilll so that I could shorten the skirt without interfering with the pretty embroidery. I also agree that the straps would have looked - and probably stayed in place better - with double or lined straps. Good value in the sale though!

Love this pretty print, dress is extremely flattering, nice to wear and stylish. Just enough length to not drag on the floor, can be styled up or down in the summer depending on the occasion.

Comes up really big. I understand meant to be flowing but top was way too big, straps wouldn’t stay up when bought in usual size

I saw this dress in a blog piece about gingham. I ordered, tried & loved it. can't wait to wear in some sunshine! Light dress, with a lightweight lining, feels like great quality. Flattering design, I bought the tall and it fits my long 5'11 body. So pleased.

Charming dress, fitted me very well but what let it down was the straps which were made of single piece of gingham material, which when wearing it would not look smart. It let down a beautiful dress. In my experience of dress making the material of straps should be material folded to make a strap so that there is double thickness and the strap would then retain a smartness and quality to the garment. I was greatly disappointed.

I loved this navy blue gingham dress. Very nicely made and embroidered. However, it did not suit me at all, so I will be returning it. I think it reminded me of my younger days.......!!! But on the right person it could be fab..

I was thinking what a lovely dress with lace trim ,until I put it on. The dress swamped me . Far Too long and too much material. I had no shape and the dress reminded me of something ! I realised that the dress could be a great pair curtains I was so disappointed with it as I loved the material and lace. At 5’2 I’m far to short for this style , if they make it shorter and less full I feel I may have kept it. My wardrobe is full m and s ! I’m a big buyer of the dresses but sadly not this one .

Not for those with a big bust

I accept I have a large bust, but this years crop of M&S summer dresses are particularly disappointing because there are at least 4 very pretty pure cotton dresses all of which I would love to wear, none of which will fit over my bust, and it is so disappointing. Yes I have tried going to a larger size but the problem is as the 'under bust' seam comes to about the fullest part of my bust, the rest of the dress hangs like a tent! Please M&S give a bit more length from shoulder to under-bust .... surely so easy particularly with the shirred dresses this year where a flat bust could wear the shirring down to their waist and us with bumps could at least get the dress to fit over the bump? Still think this and the others I tried are beautiful dresses hence yes I would recommend ..but only to a flat busted friend!
