Bought dress for significant birthday in my normal size 12. However, couldn't get it on. Having read the reviews which suggested sizing up two sizes, I went to order a 16 but thought M&S sizing couldn't be that out and the 12 I had was probably wrongly labelled so ordered a 14. Big mistake, managed to get it on but it was so tight it was unwearable. Decided that I would order a size 16 as I really liked the dress style but should have guessed - out of stock everywhere. I am so disappointed. I used to be able to order M&S size 12, regular and everything fitted perfectly. Now, I know that it's highly likely that the majority of things I order will be going back because of the inconsistent sizing. It's time M&S employed some quality control managers.

A good value dress but comes up very small compared to normal M&s sizing. The dress also rides up and is quite thick material.

Beautiful classic dress. I would prier it without the center seam down the front but it gives a nice silhouette. I deducted one star because it does run small, I would suggest sizing up one.

This is a great little black dress, good quality for the price, great shape BUT I’m a always a size 8 in Marks, but read the reviews and sized up to a 12, which fitted like a body con dress, so I sized up again to a 14!! Clearly something has gone wrong with your sizes here.

This is, for my money, one of my best M and S buys ever! The dress fits me beautifully, and it is so understated that it could come from any store from M and S to The Row. I will put a thin tee shirt under it until the weather gets warmer. The fabric is a good weight and a really jet black. I am delighted with it - fantastic value and a good cut.
