Definitely a problem in manufacturing
Originally posted on marksandspencer.com (UK)
Husband loves these shirts, I read the reviews about them not fitting well around the shoulders and there is definitely a problem with the way this has been stitched in manufacturing, which could restrict some movement . However my husband felt that this was not a problem for him, so we have kept this and another like it

Arm Fit

Lovely quality shirt which fitted well apart from the arms as previous reviewers have noted. Insufficient material to allow arm movement.

Lovely soft fabric but slightly short

This shirt is so soft and much better than other offerings from M&S made of sustainable cotton which is very harsh. I would have given it 5* but it is slightly short in the length for my husband (6' 1") despite it being an XL

Fairly good product although tight across shoulders for a regular fit. For many years the button holes are not properly formed on shirts.

Nice material. Nice pattern. Badly cut making it tight across the chest.

Good fit and length, well finished and made, easy care (polyester) so washes and dries quickly, no ironing. Pattern is distinctive. Looks smart.

Super shirt for holidays etc, non iron. Hubby happy to get larger size but says armholes could be deeper. He'd also prefer to have a top pocket.

I bought this and another short sleeve shirt and they both have the same poorly designed sleeve issue as mentioned in several previous reviews. Both shirts look great on but they also significantly restrict arm movement. I'm amazed these passed quality control (assuming there is quality control).

Very pleased with this had seen the product in store so could gauge material quality etc. Ordered online from the store as my size was not in stock there. Very swift dispatch to my local store for collection.

Returned due to sizing

I’ve bought a couple of these shirts every spring for a while now and they’ve been really good…easy are and cool. This one was returned due to a change in the sizing…very tight on the arms and shoulders…defeats the object of having a cool, loose fitting shirt…disappointing. You seem to have developed an unfortunate habit of selling something really nice and then changing…bot just shirts…it’s happened with trousers, cohorts etc etc…not all change is good!

Lovely shirt, however very uncomfortable under arms and top of arms. Fit in those areas very tight.

It washes and doesn’t need ironing as looking lovely on. The price is a bargain for a shirt of this quality.

A let down.

One of three shirts purchased for my husband's birthday and prior to a holiday. He said it was like wearing a straight-jacket! The body fit/size was absolutely fine, but for some reason, the sleeves have been cut using very little fabric and if he was to say, use a knife and fork at a dining table, the shirt would ride up and prevent very little forward movement of his arms. He is not built like the hulk! A normal 40inch chest. He does not have massive biceps. We believe M&S have simply cut back on the amount of fabric used. All shirts are being returned.
