Not really suitable for Petite people

I'm 5'3" and the dress absolutely swamped me, a lot of gathers and fabric, I just felt lost in it. I'm sure however that it would look great on a taller person and the fabric was good quality.

Looks different to the photo

I thought this dress looked lovely in the photo however the dress actually has blue included in the floral design which is difficult to see in the photo. The black slip inside the dress makes the dress incredibly difficult to put on. The dress material should be better so that it is not see through and a slip is not required. Had to return unfortunately.

Lovely dress. Only problem is I am only 5’ 1” and it is far too long. I capitalised on this by removing the bottom tier and making an obi belt which looks amazing. For dresses that are not easy to shorten I think M&S should offer a selection of lengths. Nevertheless....a lovely dress. More like this Marks.

Too long

This is a lovely dress. I have a similar one which was a gift from daughter a couple of years ago. The only big difference with this one is the length. It is almost down to my ankle and that is standard length (I am 5'5") I will be sending it back. It is the extra frill on the bottom that just adds the extra length. However I would recommend it - but not for me.

This dress was one of my recommended outfits by Try Tuesday and as I had an offer available, thought I’d purchase this. Glad I did, it’s really beautiful and ‘flows’ wonderfully. I purchased this in a 12 as I’m always cautious of buttons gaping and the fit is what was expected (however, I do think a 10 wouldn’t have been an issue). At only 5ft 2, this dress falls to ankle length and is not as overpowering with the print for my size. An added bonus was the press stud connected black insert for modesty supplied with the dress (I was expecting to need a nude slip beneath). I am delighted with this purchase, looks amazing with flat heels. Being honest, if I hadn’t of had the discount, not so sure I would’ve purchased but the timing was perfect.

Attracted by online info, but in reality - OH NO!

The idea of a summer dress in black and white - the nice flowing shape of the skirt . . . all looked positive. But the actual garment is a great disappointment. Main problem is the VERY high waistline - it is offered in larger sizes which inevitably indicates bustier people - but this is hopeless - being a gathered waist placed so very high in proportion to the overall length. On anyone size18-20 it is impossibly unflattering and indeed uncomfortable. Please try again with more smart and flattering black and black/white summer dresses, bearing in mind the (now numerous) feedback to this effect!

Perfect summer dress

I would wear this dress every day if I could! It’s beautifully made, with a floaty skirt and nice button detail. I love that it comes with a good length slip, and that it’s ankle length rather than maxi making it perfect for ankle boots or trainers. Easy to dress up or down, and looks much more expensive than it is. Love this dress!

This is not a maxi!!!

At best the length of this dress is a midi (on me, I’m 5’9’’) coming to halfway down my calf so why does it get called a maxi?! It looked frumpy on and not that flattering so I’ve returned it. However, brownie points to M&S for the press stud ribbon attachments which hold the slip in place, so much easier to be able to remove the separate slip to put on first! Sorry but not for me

Reason for Return

Sadly I had to return this dress which I loved on sight. The fit was very strange. Small fit across bust but miles too long and so much material in the front it could have served as a maternity dress! Loved the material and it would have been the perfect dress for so many occasions. Sadly, A great disappointment.

This dress looked perfect for work - smart but easy to wear. I ordered the regular as the long version, which I would usually go for, appears to be permanently out of stock. Sadly, like another reviewer, I found this sat very high on the waist and it could not be redeemed by even a fairly wide belt so I had to return it. If the long ever does come back into stock, I may try again in hopes that the body and not just the skirt is longer. If the waist had been in the right place, I would have had no hesitation in recommending this dress as it is a lovely style and good quality fabric. This is the second M&S dress that I have had to return because of the placement of the waist in as many months so I hope this is not going to become a permanent issue.

Ruined by a high waist

Gorgeous dress ruined by a very high waistband. If you are busty it will look very strange. Such a shame as it was a lovely quality dress. Lovely fabric. Sadly not for my figure.

Really lovely dress, very high waisted (please can we have lower waist bands M&S) but with a leather belt added it looks better. The dark print is not the most summer-y but very useful for city / workplace as it is a swishy shape but not too girly. It would look good with a fitted blazer or leather jacket. I was in two minds about keeping it as it is nearly twice the price of a regular M&S dress but after I slept on it last night it was the only thing I wanted to wear this morning! I ordered the regular length as I`m only 5,2" and it fitted as a true midi.

Picked up from store today really pleased with the dress feels very comfortable looks good worn with ankle boots long boots and all shoes very versatile. I would have liked pockets but otherwise it lovely. Ordered size 8 as 6 wasn’t available regular as long was out of stock but feel it would have been too long. Would like this in navy blue A lot of money but with discount off I’m happy
