Far too small. The thick elastic waist band is too stiff, meaning there is hardly any give and cuts in. Recommend ordering at least 2-3 sizes bigger if your child needs any sort of give around the waist!

These were nice cotton shorts but rather small, 12-13 yrs barely fit my 11 year old. They also came right down to the knee so longer than expected for cycling shorts.

Bought for just turned seven, slim granddaughter. These 9/10 year old shorts were really small made. Her mum said she would need to pour her into them! Sizing definitely needs looked at. Good quality though.
