Thermal long socks. They work fine.

My husband suffers from cold feet. These socks fit the bill perfectly . They are not too bulky and keep his feet nice and toasty in this freezing weather.
They look good on and can be worn with his suits .
They also wash well.

these socks used to be great but for some reason they were shortened in length a few years ago which makes them really uncomfortable to wear now since they need elastic bands to keep them up. ideal when they were long enough but not enough length for a tuck over to keep elastic band in place. big shame as they are high in wool content which seems to be a rarity now. I was given some recently for Christmas but sad to see still the shortened length. wish marks would fix this!

Comfortable and warm
Bought Jan. 15 - Really pleased with my decision to get these, worn once so far and very comfortable and they've washed well without any shrinkage or twisting; still early days really in a socks life but look promising so give them a try yourself

Long wool thermal socks
I am over 70 and have cold legs, so long socks are very valuable to me. I previously had M&S lambswool long socks. I found these warm, but last couple of years have been a bit disappointed as socks seem to vary in length and their ability to stay up. So I thought I'd try M&S thermal long socks. I found these very warm, and feel confident they can keep my legs warm even in very cold weather. But again I found some variation in length, and in staying up. May I suggest M&S give some attention to these features? There's not much point in long socks, however warm, which regularly fall to the ankles! Perhaps production of garters, which are not very fashionable, but could be useful?.
