How to create the ultimate cheeseboard

Round off your festive feast in style with a hand-picked selection of the finest cheeses, sourced by our experts from the very best European producers. Choose cheeses with a variety of flavours and textures:

  • Creamy and soft
Try our intensely flavoured Berthaut époisses, rich vacherin mont d’or, indulgent and robust brie de meaux, mild and fragrant English goat’s cheese, decadent pavé d’affinois and must-try truffle-filled brie.

  • Tangy and intense
To contrast, add cheeses like our savoury and rich Cropwell Bishop stilton, our exclusive three-year-old Cornish Cruncher cheddar and our roquefort révélation, with its deep umami notes. All of these cheeses pair brilliantly with fruit and port.

  • Nutty and sweet
Complete your selection with our Le Crêt réserve gruyère, which has nutty caramel notes, as well as a wedge of sweet, complex comté and some nutty De La Huz queso manchego curado, which works a treat with walnuts and a drizzle of honey.

Allow around 65g of cheese per person, and serve at room temperature to enjoy the flavours at their fullest. Then add crackers, fresh fruit and chutneys to your cheeseboard, and enjoy with your favourite drinks – check out some of our favourite pairing suggestions below.

Beautiful burrata

Take the very best mozzarella, combine it with rich cream and what do you get? Our incredible Italian burrata. Made in Puglia from the silkiest mozzarella, with a creamy, oozing centre, this soft cheese is ridiculously good.

Try some of our tasty ideas:

  • Keep it simple by placing the burrata on top of tomatoes and basil. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil and some cracked black pepper. Serve with warm ciabatta.
  • Add the burrata to the centre of your favourite pizza after cooking. Break into the burrata and dip the crusts in the oozy cheese.
  • Roast cherry tomatoes, a few cloves of garlic and rosemary in the oven with a generous glug of olive oil. Once the tomatoes are blistered, stir through cooked pasta. Serve with torn burrata and basil leaves on top.

Hand-picked pairings

The only thing better than cheese? Wine and cheese, of course. Try these cracking flavour combos from French wine aficionado Fred Sirieix.

  • Gruyère: champagne, cava or a fruity red, such as a burgundy or côtes du rhône, all pair beautifully with gruyère’s nutty caramel notes.
  • Cornish Cruncher cheddar: it has to be glass of bordeaux.
  • Brie de Meaux: serve with a glass of white burgundy, a light, fruity red, such as pinot noir or gamay, or even a lager or spicy saison beer.
