Eat al fresco

Lighter evenings and glorious sunshine provide the perfect opportunity to serve up a delicious meal outdoors. Plate up boards of charcuterie, cheese and a selection of tasty breads, such as focaccia and warm ciabatta, and keep it light and fresh by adding one of our fuss-free salad ideas to your al fresco set-up:

  • Mix slices of tomato with torn mozzarella, olive oil, basil, capers and a dollop of green pesto for the perfect Italian-inspired salad.
  • Combine chunks of watermelon with sliced red onion, crumbled feta, chopped mint, a glug of olive oil and seasoning.
  • Top your favourite grains (couscous, bulgur wheat or quinoa all work well) with roasted cauliflower, sweet potato or courgettes, spinach leaves, a drizzle of yoghurt and a squeeze of lemon juice.
  • Griddle asparagus in a pan until tender and top with lemon juice, olive oil and some parmesan shavings.

Flavour-packed fig salad

Fragrant and sweet, figs are the perfect partner to savoury Parma ham. To make this Turkish fig salad, simply pile up figs and rocket on a platter then arrange the ham on top. Season and drizzle over a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Top tip: try adding some soft Roquefort or toasted walnuts for extra flavour and crunch.

The spritz of the season

Bring the holidays home with our brand-new aperitivo spritz – the only sprtiz to sip this summer!

Made with crisp and refreshing Spanish white wine and intense and zesty orange bitters, it’s a holiday in a bottle that’s perfect for cocktail or aperitivo hour sipped alongside cured meats and nibbles. Serve over ice with a slice of orange and a sprig of rosemary.

The iced aperitivo treat

Looking for the perfect iced treat to enjoy after your long sunny lunch? Try our aperitivo ice lolly recipe, which stars our must-sip spritz and refreshing orange juice. To make, simply mix 150ml of our pre-mixed aperitivo spritz with 150ml orange juice, then pour into lolly moulds. Place a slice of orange juice and a lolly stick into each of the mould sections. Freeze until solid, then remove from the moulds. If the lollies are tricky to remove, briefly dip the moulds in hot water to loosen.
