WEAR IT YOUR WAY

A STYLIST’S GUIDE TO GOODMOVE

Whether you’re exploring the bush or nailing your 2022 fitness goals, leading stylist and Melbourne local, Sally Mackinnon, trials our latest sportswear collection

The best of M&S Goodmove sportswear

With 15 years’ experience in personal styling, Sally Mackinnon knows what it takes to look and feel great whatever you’re up to in a day. This summer, we tasked Sally with trialling our latest Goodmove collection of activewear that performs. “I’m super impressed with the quality, size range and price point, which comes as no surprise from an iconic British brand.” says Sally. “The collection features such a wide range of options for all your active needs.”

“Here, I’m wearing the printed scoop-neck cropped vest top, Go Move reflective gym leggings and lace-up knitted runners. I’ve been on the lookout for high-waisted leggings and cropped tops to wear to my favourite classes. Showing the right amount of skin can be difficult when you’re tall and long waisted, but this pairing works well together. The scoop-neck crop top also provides good support.”

The perfect pieces for every workout

Taking inspiration from Sally and heading outside to work out this summer? SPF is a must of course but covering your skin with breathable sports clothing is also an easy way to protect yourself from the rays. “For me, being sun smart is really important. This zip up top is perfect for walks around the park, but also good to throw over a strappy crop top (worn below) on my way to and from Pilates,” recommends Sally.

When it comes to picking the perfect pair of leggings, Sally has some top tips: “Leggings are most flattering when worn either under the knee or above the ankle. Three-quarter-length leggings that finish on the calf can make your legs look shorter. If you’re conscious of your legs, opt for styles with a pattern or texture which will offer camouflage while you work out.”

Create a good workout schedule

“I have been doing Pilates now for 10 years and it keeps my body strong and flexible, which is so important as we age. Having set times each week means I work my schedule around classes and don’t let my instructor down,” explains Sally.

Maintaining enthusiasm to exercise after the New Year’s resolution boost has worn off can be tough, but what we wear can have a huge impact on motivation. (Read our guide to wearing bright colours if you’re unsure where to start.) From mood-boosting neon yellow sweat tops to smile-raising printed leggings, having a workout wardrobe packed with energising pieces can be just the nudge you need to get moving.
