KAT FARMER’S STYLE STAPLES

British blogger, Instagram star and TV stylist Kat Farmer chooses the wardrobe multi-taskers you’ll wear now and forever

Trusty tank top

“The key to getting it right when you’re buying wardrobe essentials is choosing things with longevity that, ideally, you can wear all year round. This white tank is the most staple of staples. You can wear it alone or under anything and it’s silky enough to tuck in without loads of excess fabric adding a dress size to your middle. It’s loose but still fitted and you can’t see your bra when you’re wearing it.”

Two-in-one cardigan

“This pure merino cardigan also works as an amazing sweater. Wear the white vest underneath if you don’t like wearing black next to your skin: as we get older, we’re told that black is a draining colour against mature skin but you’re never going to get me out of black. If you wear the white tank underneath you can see a tiny edge of white, so you still get to wear your black.”

Hard-working blazer

“I love this blazer – it reminds me of vintage YSL and also comes in navy. We might not be thinking about being super smart at the minute, but a slouchy blazer is really wearable. When buying something like a blazer, think about the three occasions you’ll wear it: it works perfectly in a dress-down casual outfit like this. Change the shoes for a smarter pair, add a crisp white shirt and you can wear it to the office. It will also go with jeans, a faded T-shirt and trainers.”
