While nothing is certain about Christmas right now, it’s likely that at least some get-togethers will be screen to screen instead of face to face, giving party dressing a waist-up focus. Think sparkly tops or accessories, interesting collar details and patterned tops that feel festive enough for screen parties with friends, Christmas Day catch-ups with extended family and New Year’s Eve drinks via Zoom. They’ll look chic worn with wide-leg black pants and heeled courts but, as no one will know what you’re wearing from the waist down, could just as easily be paired with boyfriend jeans and slippers.
While planning anything has been impossible for much of 2020, one thing we can start thinking about is our Christmas Day outfit. While some families are firmly in the PJs-all-day camp, if you favour dressing up on the big day, a relaxed long-sleeved patterned mini, midi or maxi dress will feel special but still comfortable enough to wear for a day of feasting.
