M&S We're all in this together

We’re all in this together
#AllInThisTogether

We want to share some of the things we’re doing to help our customers, wider community and colleagues during these challenging times.

We’re proud to say that many of these actions come from the 80,000 colleagues across the UK and Ireland who are working around the clock to keep delivering for customers.

Our M&S family is doing our very best to help every family that we can because now more than ever, we’re #AllInThisTogether.

Our M&S Stores are open for you and your community

Here’s how we’re supporting our colleagues and you to keep healthy and well as you shop

Before you set off…

All of our standalone food stores and Foodhalls in larger stores are open so you can get the food that you need. Our Outlet stores that only sell Clothing and Home are temporarily closed.

When you arrive…

At busy times, you'll be greeted by a colleague who'll manage the number of customers in the store. We're cleaning trollies, baskets, screens and all touch points hourly and deep cleaning every night.

Social distancing 2 metres apart

As you shop…

Please stay 2m apart from other people in the store. We've put markings on the floor to help you when you're in a queue. We're shelf-filling out of hours wherever we can to give you more space. Colleagues can carry hand sanitiser and have time in their shifts to wash their hands every half hour.

When you pay…

When you pay…

We're installing sneeze guards at our tills. Please pay by card if you can. To help you, the limit on contactless payments is increasing to €50 (from 1 April 2020) and you can Mobile Pay Go using our app in some stores. We're also asking customers not to scan their Sparks card, but to use the contact us link on M&S.com to have points added when you get home.

Be kind

When you pay…Be kind

Give your fellow customers and our colleagues the space they need.

Communities

We’ve always played an active role in the local communities that we’re so very proud to serve. Our partnership with community platform Neighbourly helps us reach and work with charities in as many communities as possible. For example

Kickstarters of the Neighbourly Community Fund

Launched on 21 March, the Neighbourly Community Fund will support people most impacted by COVID-19, by funding the work of local charities.

M&S kickstarted the fund with a donation of €50,000 and will support local organisations (from food banks to youth clubs) across Ireland to immediately deliver on the ground community support to the most vulnerable

Redistributing food to local communities

Neighbourly also helps us meet our targets to redistribute leftover food from our stores. At the end of 2018, we dished out our five millionth meal!

Colleagues

Our colleagues have a critical role to play in delivering for our customers during these challenging times. We’re working hard to make that as easy as we can for them. As well as additional cleaning in our stores we’ve added more time to shifts so colleagues can wash their hands, we’re supporting all colleagues who need to self-isolate on full pay and we’ve set up a fund for colleagues facing temporary hardship to give them extra help. In this short film, our CEO Steve Rowe personally thanks M&S colleague for their resilience, support and kindness and talks about other measures we’re taking to keep our colleagues healthy and well.
