One wash and it has become limp

In so many ways a great product, but after a few washes it loses all elasticity, and before long becomes just another rag for household duties. With all the advances in textile technology, surely it is possible to make a great idea something better than what is as disposable as a paper napkin.

I purchased this vest for my partner to wear at a wedding as his suit was a tad tight on him and it made enough difference for the suit to fit nicely and look very smart. He said it was very comfortable to wear and he would use it again. The vest is of a very good quality. I would recommend using a size smaller if more strength is required.

I am 6ft tall, 15stone and have a 46" chest - am a standard M&S XL. I read the other reviews where many said "get a size smaller". Stupidly I ignored this advice and got a XL size but it was as loose as a normal vest so I purchased a L size instead. This is a good fit and genuinely smooths my trunk. I was not expecting miracles but I do feel more confident when wearing it and it cannot be seen under a Polo shirt. The vest was so good that I have purchased another two. Two points I would make. Firstly, a reinforced panel like the one over the stomach area should be added over the chest or the material there should be made stronger. Secondly, the vest could be made a bit longer (2") so that it doesn't ride up and come un tucked or perhaps a "Tall" version could be introduced. Overall, a really good product especially for the middle aged/older man.

I found one in a sale some time ago. I'm not convinced about the body 'shaping' claims but I love the warmth and close fitting comfort. I have since bought the T shirt version and they are better than the standard M&S thermal underwear.

Had a couple of similar vests from an own brand from another large department store. They were probably slightly better in the shape department, completely holding in my 'muffin top', but were sleeveless rather than vestlike, and not as stretchy, so could be tricky to get off. Also tried a similar product from a leading supermarket chain - which was all stretch, with little hold. The M&S Bodymax is the best of the three though - it holds things in well enough, is comfortable, and comes off easily enough. I'd say I'm normally a large, and have these in medium/white. Would buy a couple more in black if M&S would only get them back into stock!

I have had this vest for a couple of weeks,it fits well and looks good.I am a 38-40 chest and purchased a size medium,it did feel a bit tight at first but I was soon used to the feel of the vest. It does make me walk taller and pull in my tummy,my only gripe is that it rides up and wrinkles under your clothing when moving around.

This item does what it is made for, up to a point. If you can "pinch an inch" don't expect this item to simply make it disappear. It will go someway to holding in those bits which have mysterious grown on you over the years, but it ain't gonna make you no cat walk model. Get a size or two smaller than you would for a conventional vest. You may have to squeeze into it, but the resuts will be better. If you wear it below a white business shirt, the panel at the front will likely be visible, so best worn under a coloured business shirt. Overall, it's worth the investment.

Would have been perfect if this was like a sleeveless tee rather than an 'under-vest' cut at the armholes. Otherwise...it does the job it was made for!

this product when it was on sale. I have a urostomy, and I feel this product helps to keep my bag in place, making me feel confident and secure. Im sure the designer never had this in mind when he designed it. But I love to wear these vests, gives a great line for your outer clothes.

WAY TOO LARGE ON SIZING
Average rating: 1 out of 5
January 2013
No, I don't recommend this
firstly let me say these are very nice quality, and are styled just like any vest. I am normally 42 to 44 chest size and always wear large or x large in a top/shirt. I ordered 2 large ones of these, but they were way too big with no support, so i ordered 2 medium, then returned the large. These were very slightly better, but still offered no belly support, so i gave up and returned them. I think i am going to spend more on the Spanx or Equemen brands next time as i thought that buying a small would still be insufficient support as the sizes didnt vary much from large to medium. another reason i gave up was i think that if the thing has to be so tight to offer any support, how long will it take to stretch thus rendering it useless? beware of this issue.
