Traditional with a twist

“I’m a Melbourne girl through and through. We’ve always celebrated Christmas at home with my family, my husband’s family and our sons. However, this year our home is being renovated so we will be waking up at my in-laws’. My mother-in-law covers her entire home in Christmas decorations and my three boys absolutely love it. On Christmas Eve, we’ll wrap gifts for the cousins and watch carols on TV. Even though it’s summer, some evenings get cool, so we put on our Christmas jumpers to get into the spirit.

“On the big day, we’ll have a seafood breakfast after we open the gifts, then head to my grandparents’ home for a big Maltese feast – my family are from Malta and we love our food. My grandfather dresses up as Santa and gives the kids their gifts, then we all enjoy the summer sun in the backyard playing cricket.”

All about the sparkle

“Now I’m a school mum, we have a lot of new friends and one of them will be hosting a grown-ups Christmas soiree in December. It will be a fun and relaxing evening where I won’t need to chase after the kids all night!

“I’m all about statement outfits: in fact, my wardrobe is a glittery, sequin-y rainbow of goodies. This ruby-red top and silver mini skirt really represent statement 80s style which I’m so glad is back. I love paring sequins back with denim – the Ivy high waisted skinny jeans have been my go-to lately.

“A pair of low kitten heels are a must for your festive wardrobe or make a statement in these metallic sandals – you can wear them with everything from jeans to party dresses. I have so many sparkly pieces, such as this dress, on my wish list. As you can tell, I don’t think you can ever have too much sparkle.”
