HOW TO CREATE AN OCEAN-THEMED ROOM FOR KIDS

Whether they’re into mermaids or pirates, here’s how to create a marine-inspired space that can’t fail to fuel little imaginations

Searching for a bedroom theme that is shore to please kids of all ages? Look out to sea for inspiration. With a colour palette of calming blues and turquoise, an ocean-themed room is the ideal backdrop to soothe them into the land of Nod. Make their favourite space the place to fuel their creativity with a wallpapered feature wall or wall decals featuring dolphins, whales, octopuses – or any of their favourite sea creatures. Not sure you want to commit to the theme long term? Under-the-sea-themed bedding and curtains will give you the same result. And don’t forget to accessorise – a scattering of sea-creature cushions will get the bed into ship shape. Hang their favourite ocean-themed poster in a magnetic wood frame mount and let sea shells collected on family beach trips take pride of place.
