CREATE A CAPSULE WARDROBE THAT KIDS WILL LOVE

Build a wardrobe of fail-safe options to help children express themselves when they start taking an interest in getting dressed, featuring everything from boys’ coats to girls’ trainers

Dress to express

We’re keen to give boys and girls the freedom to feel inspired when dressing themselves.  Wondering which wardrobe items are the most loved by kids and how parents can encourage children to style themselves while still looking the part for every occasion? Read on.

From girls’ tops to boys’ coats, every child has their favourite clothing item. Our kidswear styling team suggest that parents create a cohesive capsule wardrobe to help children feel confident and excited by their clothing choices, while ensuring they are appropriately dressed for every occasion.

So, whether you’re visiting family at the weekend or have a playdate with friends, our key pieces will make outfit choices much easier and give children the freedom to coordinate items from their wardrobe when dressing themselves.

Snappy dressers

We delved into the data to find out when children want to start dressing themselves. Our research* revealed the exact age children want to start dressing themselves is five years old and that, on average, children tend to get changed twice a day.

The key items that children reach for are tops, followed by leggings for girls and shorts for boys.

Dressing themselves is an activity that children love, according to our research, with nearly half of children (48%) reporting they feel happy when choosing their own clothing, and nearly half again saying it made them feel independent (47%) and grown up (42%).
