Pure Cotton Embroidered Shift Dress

Lovely style, lovely material, good fit. All ruined by the colour, which was not as it appeared online. Described as ochre but was more of a buttercup yellow, far too bright. Returned it I'm afraid.

I'm very pleased with this dress, it fits very well, colour is very vivid, length is just right and the material is very light - just right for summer! Won't take up much space in a suitcase to take on holiday. More dresses like this M&S.

I love the look of this dress, the easy style and what appeared to be alternating layers of cream and pale yellow. Sadly this is not what I got. The dress is solid yellow and I looked like a belisha beacon, which wasn't the look I was aiming for. The quality was good and it was lined, it was the right length but oh, that yellow. It went back and I was sorry to do so, but I really wouldn't wear it.

Nice dress, pretty design. Not sure it's worth the cost.its not special just ok. Fit is pretty true to size. Colour is bright yellow, nothing like colour on website.

I bought this dress when there was 20% off so feel I have got a really good deal. Its a lovely bright Ochre colour and will be perfect for summer days here and abroad. The fit feels very ture to size. The dress can be dressed up or down so a useful addition to my wardrobe.

Loved the colour and style but the fit - well it was great on the hip and big on the bust - ive never seen such big arm holes! Sad really as i loved the style . So back to Marks it goes.

I was truly amazed when I opened this delivery the colour was bright (free range Chicken) egg yolk yellow! I was so disappointed as the picture on line made it look like cream with the embroidery in a darker toning colour. I am 5' 3" and this immense block of colour made me look huge. I admit the fit was very good and I liked the actual dress very much especially as it was lined but the colour was too bright on me. If you look good in bright colours it is the dress for you. If this dress was in a more subdued colour I would happily buy another one so please M&S tone it down and give us colours in pastel shades.

This dress is very bright, however it is a lovely fit and gives you some shape rather than just hanging. I am a size 18 and the dress fitted exactly (not over generous). The neck is not too high and the sleeve is not too cut away to show a bra strap, the length is excellent just on the knee but I am 5ft 10inches, the lining is cotton too which is wonderful. This is a lovely dress which can either be dressed up or down, dont be put off by the bright colour its beautiful when on. I wish they did this style in more colours and perhaps with a pattern. Its wonderful to have a shift dress with a little shape and fully cotton lined not the usual pollyester.

Described as ochre this is strong daffodil yellow but with the right jacket would look contemporary and striking and the fabric (like bands of broderie anglaise) is excellent ….but the fit is hopeless. I ordered on line, picked it up, tried it on and took it straight to the returns counter. The size 12 was neat on the hips and at least 4 inches wider round the chest than another Per Una dress ordered at the same time. How hard can it really be to make a standard size 12 shift dress?
