Leather Lace Up Gibson Shoes with Stormwear™

Excellent fit, like a glove, but am a bit wary about the laces, there seems to be very sharp edges on the top lace hole. Time will tell.

Bought these shoes & within approx 15 wears the laces broke. Told manager of men's dept of m&s in Worcester that there may be a problem with quality of laces. Purchased new set of laces & these have also been worn through within similar number of shoe uses. Have noted that the last set of eyelets (the ones not clearly shown on website picture) have very sharp edges & it would appear that this is causing the problem. The eyelets are not standard shoe eyelets (as the ones visible are) & are similar to those on hiking boots, only very poorly made. Am now looking for a kit on ebay hopefully to replace the offending eyelets with ones that function o.k. Would not buy again because of this problem!! Pity, because the shoes are comfortable.

I was unable to purchase these shoes in store as the shoes that were my size had different textures on the leather and looked a bit strange. I felt they were very comfortable on. The shoes I ordered through the website were perfect and really comfortable. These shoes look good and feel great on and (although I haven't put them to the test) should be ideal for the weather conditions in Scotland.

One of the laces snapped the second time they were put on! It cost me £3 to replace them and detracted from my over all view of this product!

I bought these as I had a similar pair from a few years ago and liked them. The fit is slightly different - slightly smaller than the same size then, but good enough, and now they are wearing in they are fine. They have a good grippy sole, but a rather unusual final cleat for the laces, which makes for a rather large knot. Because of this, the laces are short; for the money I reckon they could have come an inch or two longer!

seem to be robust winter shoes - thick sole, big treads etc but 1> laces are too short 2> tongue has triangular side panels that fold as laces tighten, and form 3-layer thick wedges which press as hard points into ones feet. I solved this with a Stanley knife and sewing ! Doubt M+S buyers wore these before ordering 20,000 ! ( I bought on-line ) very disappointing but fine now redesigned

My husband couldn't wear them because he has bandages at the moment. They seemed attractive- quite heavy.

Thought I would order these online as no stock in Cambridge store. First pair collected and found left shoe (size 7) was like walking on a rod under ball of left foot - right shoe perfect fit. Second (replacement) shoes were identical and indeed you could see the very sharp bend in the left shoe starting from the ball of the foot - so much so that the toe of the foot was pointing up some 25mm higher than the right foot when placed side by side - how can any quality control not spot this?. Clearly the mould is wrong on the left foot so cancelled order and very disappointed with M&S lack of quality so went and bought elsewhere.
