Claudio Gonsalvez learned his winemaking skills in Chile, but has spent two years making wine in New Zealand, where he learned to bring out the true vibrance and minerality of the grapes he works with. This Merlot, from the volcanic ash and sand vineyards of Villa Alegre, receives a warm, 26–28˚C fermentation to bring out its most vivid characters. It needs no oak embellishment to show at its best.
