Metallic Effect Hooded Mac with Stormwear™

This mac won't 'set the world on fire' but it seems like a useful item. I won't be able to tell until I put it to the test in the Wellington rain (which we get plenty of) but I see one reviewer said it isn't good in heavy rain so it might have to be for those lighter rain days! I bought the next size up from my usual size 14 and that was a good move. It will allow me to put a thicker sweater on underneath in the winter months. I would have preferred it in the berry colour but couldn't get that in the sale in the correct size.

I purchased a slightly shorter version last year with a removable hood. I would have liked a removable hood on this model, however, in wet weather it's always there.

This jacket wasn't my first choice. The one I originally selected on line seemed to have changed to 'out of stock' by the time I came to buy it. This isn't the first time that has happened online. The jacket seems OK, even though not first choice. Not as long as I thought it would have been too. and a little tight over the shoulders. M&S should sort out the sizing properly as I am a 16 at the bottom, and a 22/24 at the top even though I am a 20!! This makes it very difficult to get most things as the bottom half is far too big.

It lived up to all my expectations apart from the sizing. I am normally a M&S 16/18 but with this garment I had to buy a 20 which was a perfect fit, even on the sleeves.

A fashionable but practical winter coat /mac.

I had been looking for a weatherproof mac with a hood that wasn't padded, and on-line this looked as if it fitted the bill. Well it might have fitted bill but it didn't fit me!! The problem was around the waist, there just wasn't any room to pull the drawstring as it was quite a snug fit. I ordered my usual size so was a little disappointed in the snug fit and returned it to my local store where, they had a larger size, and this too was tight around the middle. I'm no Twiggy but was surprised that I had the same problem in the next size up!!! spooky!!! funny, I thought I was a pear shape, but maybe I'm an apple, the plot (like my waist) thickens....

I have the Per Una summer equivalent of this winter coat. It looks lovely and fits well. However, the toggles around the waist do tend to work loose. Also I got caught in heavy rain (not torrential) and after a 10 minute walk home was soaked right through to my skin! So it is a lovely coat if you just want it for dry/light shower weather. Unfortunately M & S give you the option of submitting a review immediately after purchase so you are not always aware of any problems

Stylish coat and great quality. Brought the bigger size, so I could wear a jumper underneath but there is no way. It is very tight across my back and shoulders, which is so disappointing. It barely measures up to M and S's size guide so if you are planning to buy one of these coats buy the next size up. M and S seem to have a huge inconsistency in sizing this year even within two items of the same product and same size. What is up with them!

Just what I was looking for I had the summer version in navy metallic and loved the style and fit. This is just as nice a fit a lovely versatile colour in a charcoal grey and the lining is just right, not too warm and bulky but a cosy feel and the check lining in hood and lower half of coat is a very nice touch without being over the top. The top half is lined in a really lovely soft fleece and the quality is superb. Very happy with my purchase and excellent value for money compared to some other rain resistant outerwear on the market.
