M & S join British quality-cycling-kit-péloton...
As an enthusiastic cyclist and someone who appreciates quality gear for the two-wheeled fraternity, I was eager to get my hands on a pair of these M & S cycling chinos. Their stormwear chinos have fitted the bill in the past so I was wondering if they could make the step up to "real" cycling gear. The answer is an unequivocal "yes!" Beautifully designed with great cyclo details such as adjustable and reflective hems and zipped pockets, they stretch gloriously and ooze quality. I am a contented owner of some beautiful (unmentionable!) British made kit but this M & S offering is excellent and as a fellow reviewer has said, a bargain. I'm told there will be more stock in September and I for one will be adding another pair to my wardrobe. I'm also with adventuretraveller in that other colours and kit would be a great addition. Any chance of a pair in tweed?

These are a bargain. The quality is high with a good finish. I'm a 32 waist and they come out a bit bigger than I 'd expect but I think this is deliberate as the elastic takes up the slack and it gives lots of room when on the bike. The high back pockets are excellent (why aren't all back pockets this high?) and the reflecting bits and turn-up features are a bonus.
There's only one big problem for me and that's that they're so hard to get! I want another pair of 32/33 dark grey ones but I can't catch them in stock. Come on M&S -make more and stock them in your stores.
Also M&S, can you make a feature filled cycling jacket made from waterproof cotton with lots of vents and pockets? I'd like one in black please.

There is almost nothing not to like about these trousers.
Good elasticated waist. I'm half-way size wise on the waist, but the smaller size expanded nicely. Nice fit. (You'll need a belt to hide the expansion bit.)
If I have a criticism, then the sticky bit on the inside of the waist-band can feel a bit uncomfortable if worn with an untucked polo-shirt or similar, but the fact that it keeps a shirt tucked in is good.
Was caught walking in the rain, and the water-resistance was useful.

Pockets - what are they about?
I'm not a cyclist but I was after good looking chinos that I can wear as casually as jeans but still look smart. These fit the bill brilliantly.
I love that the back pockets have zips, I think the inclusion of light reflecting flaps and reinforced cuffs with poppers to narrow them for cycling inspired but the second pair of zipped front pockets? What are they about?
They are just too narrow to get my hand into and I have average hands. I can only squeeze my fingers in. Anything put in these pockets will stay there until I take them off and turn them upside down. Everything else is so well designed and thought through. This is just a good idea that doesn't work.
It's a very niggly point though and I give these chinos 4.5 out of 5 stars.
