Conran Glass Fading Bowl

The photo displays a lovely shiny bowl and the description says "stylish" however it is actually more like a smoky plastic bowl. I can see why it is sold online, as I wouldn't look twice at it on a shelf in the store!

Bought one of these with the 'pay & collect' service, having seen and liked some on display in a store. Although I briefly checked the bowl to make sure it wasn't cracked when picking it up, it was only when I got it home I found the glass surface was covered with something that I can only surmise was matt finish varnish (presumably some by-product of the manufacturing process that hadn't been cleaned off properly). This resisted all reasonable attempts to remove it - so its going back for a replacement. I will double check the next one to make sure it doesn't suffer from the same defect.
