Black Friday is a shopping extravaganza. It is traditionally a national holiday in the USA allowing people to buy items at huge discounted prices in the run-up to Christmas. Black Friday offers now occur all over the world.

Traditionally, it falls on the fourth Thursday each November, the day after the American holiday Thanksgiving.
Why is it called Black Friday?
Black is said to be an accounting reference; red ink was used to indicate loss, black indicated profit. US police have also used the term to describe the mayhem caused by shoppers hungry for a bargain the day after Thanksgiving.
