Overpriced
Yes, I recommend this
This wine states full bodied on the label but I would consider it medium. I have had better wines at half the price. I drank this over 2 nights, the first night it was acidic and astringent, however on the second night it had softened. If I did but again it would have to be on offer and I would decant it. Notte Rossa - primitivo is magnitudes better and cheaper.

Not great
No, I don't recommend this
I tend to agree with most of the negative reviews on this wine. I found the acidity too high (tannins were ok), it is not smooth, and I agree with other reviews that it is a bit thin and not rounded or smooth enough. It's ok, but it's an £8 wine not a £12.50 one.

Typical Italian wine, feisty rather than refined
No, I don't recommend this
It does have pleasant warming spice notes on the chest but that is the only refinement. The alchohole feeds back through the nose. I expected more sophistication and smoothness at the price. To me it is rough arounnd the edges. It may be better after a year or two when it softens.

Nero D'Avola wine
Yes, I recommend this
This wine is smooth and delicate it is a wine that can be consumed with any meal or just as a nice glass of something whilst watching a good film. Good value for money from M&S

Overpowering tannins
No, I don't recommend this
Nero d'Avola seems the most widely grown grape variety in Sicily, loving the heat and producing deeply coloured and full-bodied wines albeit in a wide range of qualities. This one is sold as single estate, but though I enjoyed a few of the early bottles I bought when M&S first made this available, the more recent ones have shown over-powering tannins and less finesse than I recalled. I love full body and colour in a red wine, but it needs to be more rounded than this manages.

Very dry
No, I don't recommend this
First glass out of the bottle showed nice initial full dark fruit flavours, but an immense dryness on the finish. Could not finish the bottle however I did finish the next day with some beef and it was much improved. Ok to drink with dark meats but frankly there are many much better at this price or below. I would not touch it again.

Lovely

Nero D'Avola is my favourite Sicilian wine, this one is full flavoured with no afterbite, Would be more than happy to serve this to guests.

great bargain
Yes, I recommend this
I was given a voucher when I went shopping to buy a case of wine with 25% off. This is one of my favourite reds , so looking on line I saw that it was already reduced and with the discount it came down to about £8 a bottle. Fantastic value. It's a great red to have with an Italian meal , we love it , so bought two cases. I love a bargain too!

Very poor

Very very disappointed.....nothing like the 2007 which was so much better...very 'thin'...not anything like value for money...very overpriced for the wine!

Third time unlucky
Yes, I recommend this
I have bought this wine 3 times but unfortunately the last order of 2 cases was quite poor. A bottle I took to a dinner party was so embarrassingly bad, it was poured down the sink! Lucky my friends thought it amusing. I know you can get the occasional corked bottle, but there was approx 50% that were not good. Disappointing as I did love this wine.

This wine is full bodied in my opinion and needs to be drunk with food to be appreciated. It is too full bodied for my taste.
