Basic style

Good quality material and well priced but very basic style. Would have been a lot nicer with box pleats half way down the sides.

Having bought a complete bed set, I am disappointed with two of the items - the base valance and the duvet cover. The base valance was so creased, it was a nightmare to iron, it says "frill" length is 15", but there is no frill, its just a straight piece of material sewn onto the base cover, if it had a pleat in the middle of the long sides and one in the bottom end, it might look better. Its on the bed, but not sure how long for, I really dont like it. The duvet cover is faulty, has dirty marks on it, - quite how it passed quality control i dont know, so Im going to have to take it back and exchange it. Not what you expect from M &S.

The valance wasn't as good as I hoped. It is not long enough for the length of the bed (the top platform doesn't reach the very top) and also there are no side inverted pleats, only on the corners. A valance I have on another bed has one side pleat on each of the long sides which makes it look smarter. You will need to starch the valance with spray starch to get it looking a bit crisper, a bit fiddly but no problem with that. Overall, I wouldn't buy one of these again.

I bought this valance because I am so sick of ironing sheets with the valance attached every week. It is a perfect fit for my divan, looks good and will only need a little ironing on the occasions when it is washed. I will be buying a second valance to allow for washing changes.

Despite being very creased when I took out of the packaging and needing some hefty iron work once on the bed it looked great and the colour is very natural. Would definitely buy again if the need arose.

I love the colour but very difficult to get rid of the creases. I damp pressed, I washed in fabric conditioner & damped pressed again but all the creases have not gone. Also it is not flat when laid on the base of the bed & I have had to put a drawing pin in the bed under 1 top corner to hold it down. Very disappointed

Problem with fit

I found I've had to arrange this 'double' valance on a standard size double bed short on one side so that it properly covers the more public side of the room - very poor fit which is a shame seeing as one would only buy a valance in order to cover a base in the first place.

I wanted a Valance to coordinate with my daughters recently decorated bedroom and was pleased that M&S offered one in Black unlike many retailers. It really looks smart and stylish on the bed, no frills or fussiness and the perfect size for her double divan bed which measures 39 inches on the base. Good quality and on offer at the time of purchase so good value for money as well.

This product is not non-iron and when we took it out of the packet it needed ironing. During this process, some of the sewing thread came off on my iron as it melted in the heat. Not a nice experience and my iron is still clogged up!

Quality,great value,lovely colour and fits perfectly. Having bought the duvet cover and sheets i knew that it was going to be just perfect, don't bother buying other bedding (not mentioning any names but it rhymes with Korma!!) M&S is equal to their quality if not better at a fraction of the price.
