I purchased this lamp as a Christmas gift. Upon the gift first being opened on Christmas day it looked really good and I was pleased with the item but on closer inspection I noticed that the 'trim' around the shade was uneven in parts which left me feeling disappointed as this was not a cheap lamp and I expected better quality. I wanted to return the item but the recipients didn't want to put me out so they decided they could simply face the uneven trim against the wall so it couldn't be seen. All in all a disappointment.

Lamp looks really good, but at £65 it is not cheap. It is good quality, a really lovely stem. It's a bit shorter than i thought it was going to be, but overall I am very pleased with it.

We have a period flat and were looking for a not too expensive Art Deco style lamp. This one is certainly stylish and fits the bill. The shade is a little smaller than I would have expected in comparison to the base and is of reasonable, but not great, quality. In the main though we are delighted with our purchase.

We liked the style and qaulity of this product but the colour did not match the gold effect shown in the online photo. They were almost completely black and did not fit in with our decor colours and were returned.

Faulty shade design

I bought two lamps but I returned one because the shade was faulty (only evident when the lamp was switched on). I have read other reviews identifying the same problem and M&S should take action if there is a common fault. However, I am very pleased with the good lamp, it is a lovely design.

I have been really disappointed with the quality of this product. After the inconvenience of returning three of these lamps, the 4th one is now looking lovely. The three lamps I had to return all had the same faults with the finish - the corners of the shades had not been glued properly. When the lights were switched on, the seams of the shades looked really poor quality. I bought this lamp to match the athenian column floor lamp which has been fine.
