Decent priced merino wool blend tights

I don't normally leave reviews but a lot of people here do not understand what they're actually buying! I have been looking for a pair of merino wool tights for a little while, I'm a self-proclaimed merino wool fan. Why? The purpose of merino wool is to keep you cool when it's hot, and keep you warm when it's cold. It also is anti-bacterial and anti-odour. It's a magical natural fibre (but also a moth magnet so be careful)! Many merino wool blend tights are £30 and upwards (I think I once saw a single pair for £60). The blend is appropriate (around 50% merino wool), and you can see it has that merino wool texture and feel. It is not matt, but not the kind of wool that sticks to every bit of lint and fluff either. It keeps me warm enough (takes a little time in the chilly mornings, especially at the toes!) and cool in the stuffy office. I was lucky enough to get this in my size (M&S seems to have an issue with small sizes), and at the price of £9.50 (they bumped it up to £12 recently...). So far they have not torn or anything. Tights for me have the tendency to break at the toes. Anyway, super duper happy with these. Gone are the days of warming up the tights on the radiator. They are more thick than typical 100 denier tights FYI. I would say it looks closer to 120.

The tights are soft and comfortable. Although it's bodyshaping, it doesn't feel very tight and it stays in place so I don't need to keep pulling it. I recommend it.

These tights really are so warm and cosy. Smooth, non-irritant, and so warm and comfortable, but never too warm.

Non stretchy and unflattering tights

No, I don't recommend this
I buy all my tights from m&s and as I have large thighs and bottom I rely on being able to get the XL. With winter approaching I thought I'd invest in merino wool tights for warmth. Unfortunately they aren't nearly stretchy enough of generous with material. I could barely get them on and because they had stretched they looked patchy and unflattering and definitely not 100 denier.

I do really like these tights, my only problems are the price and I wish they had reinforced toes, as I often get holes in them.

I have been wearing M&S Autograph opaque tights for years....the cashmere mix one were by far the best tights ive ever bought and i could never find enough of them. Finally trying to find a new replacement after M&S decided to stop selling them, i have purchased three different pairs from Autograph and find this pair the most disappointing. They are no more opaque than the cotton mix (at about 40/60 denier and 2/3rds of the price) and the material is very liney which does not give the desired £12 per pair finish. You can do much better than this M&S, please try again.

Why the horrible perfume?
Average rating: 4 out of 5
ds220 November 2015
Yes, I recommend this
I really like these tights and they are very warm. However, they have a very strong and sickly perfume which I find really unpleasant. Surely, it would be better to produce fragrance free items. I have washed these tights repeatedly but they still have the unpleasant chemical smell. It is easy for people who want fragrance to add one of their own choice but difficult for people who want to get rid of it. Please could you consider washing clothing items in fragrance free washing powder such as your own sensitive range?
