Girls' Permanent Pleats School Skirt is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 220.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from School requirements Ordered size 13 to 14 for my 11 year old granddaughter as I was worried about the length. Super style and fit but way above her knees. M and S really need to understand that most comprehensive schools have become very strict about uniform. Children with skirts that are too short are sent home. This was not the case 10 years ago when your buyers were at school. As a company M and S could make a fortune if they realised this. The young assistant I returned the skirts to agreed and told me that was why her sister couldn't use M and S. Please sort this out for next year! Don't say buy long ones as I did and it was exactly the same length!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Too short for school regulation length These skirts which I have purchased for a number of years now have always been of excellent quality and value for money but it appears that M&S have changed the length of this standard fit skirt. Whilst my daughter is probably slightly taller than average these skirts have always been long enough for on / below knee school regulation length but not this year and I notice from reviews I'm not the only parent to comment on this. Whilst there are two longer lengths available to buy online nearly all sizes are out of stock which is most frustrating and suggests that maybe the demand for the longer lengths is so great because the standard skirt has been made too short.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pleated girls skirt Have bought this same style of skirt since 7yrs age unfortunately it’s been changed this year the 12-13is the same size waist as. 10-11 , orginal purchased 11-12 the design has changed there is now a zip in the skirt as well as the adjustable waist . No point my daughter is 10 very slim , however had to now get 12-13 due to the changer in the waist for ages 11-12 upwards , it’s not a good thing and sort of stuck with the fact has a zip , making this 12-13 size the fact the 10- 11 size waist is larger Than the 12-13 because it’s adjustable is ridiculous looks like no movement in this at all no need to change it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from They get shorter each year!, I have always bought my children's uniform from here as it is always good quality. What I don't understand is why my daughter's 12-13 skirt is shorter than last years 11-12 skirt in exactly the same style? My normal sized daughter wears the skirt and it is 4.5 inches above the knee! If you look at any school prospectus it will state that skirts should be knee length or just above but not 4.5 inches above!! Your longer length options have been sold out for months. Doesn't that send a messages? Please restock the longer length skirts.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So big I returned it My daughter is 15. I read the size guide and took the trouble to get a tape measure to check her sizes. I ordered a 15-16. This should have been exactly right for her waist and hips. She could fit the waist round her chest. It was like a tent. I returned it. Is was clearly good quality and looked like it would last. The pleats looked like they would stay in for e er which is good. I had chosen this because she needed a skirt with a pocket. I guess slim fit might have been better, but I trusted the size guide. She is also tall (5'10") and felt this skirt was too long.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from High Quality Skirt letdown by only 1 pocket I looked hard to find School skirts for my 6yr old daughter that actually had pockets - now the description of skirts doesn't mention pockets at all, but the image does have a child with her hand in the pocket. So when I opened the parcel I found the garment was high quality, but that it has only one pocket not two and the pocket size is not exactly great. So for clarity of anyone else looking, great skirt with one pocket on the right side. I can't figure out if there is another school skirt they do that has 2 pockets, so will probably hold onto them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tiny waist I have a slim and very tall 10 year old who has worn these skirts in the past. I ordered size 12-13 to ensure it would fit in length but bizarrely it is so tight around the waist that I have had to send them back. Usually on clothes I rely on the elasticated bits to make the waists smaller for her so this is truly astonishing and add into the mix that 12-13 year olds are starting to become a bit more womanly you would truly need to be very skinny to fit these comfortably.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What's happened to length this year? I bought this skirt last year in age 5-6. It was a great fit for my tall 5 year old, and I could adjust the waist as she is on the slim side. All great, skirt washed well, pleats stayed in. Ordered the 6-7 this year and when she tried it on, I thought it looked very short. Bearing in mind the height sizing on 5-6 clothes is 116cm and on 6-7 clothes is 122cm, I was expecting the skirt to be around 6cms longer, to account for a child growing. The skirt is only 2cms longer! Ridiculous! How many children only grow 2cms in a year, no wonder it's already half way up her thigh. The slim fit version is no better - in fact, it's exactly the same size - length and waist. Come on M&S, you've got great quality uniform, just please make your sizing make sense from one year to the next.
