TRIMAN

TRIMAN: compulsory marking of recyclable products and packaging

On January 1, 2015, a Decree requiring the display of the environmental logo “Triman” (Décret du 23 décembre 2014 no 2014-1577 relatif à la signalétique Common des produits recyclables here relevent d’une consigne de tri) was passed in France.

TRIMAN

This regulation requires that all companies who place various types of recyclable packaging and products covered by the Extended Producer Responsibility (with the exclusion of glass packaging) onto the French market, must inform customers if their products or packaging are separately collected for recycling by displaying the unified marking required by the Decree: the TRIMAN symbol.

The purpose of the TRIMAN symbol is to identify recyclable packaging/products that are designated for sorting and separate collection.

Below are the examples of various types of M&S products and packaging which are recyclable and form part of the recycling/sorting system in France:

- Paper/board packaging

- Some plastic packaging (refer to the sorting instructions via the link provided below)

- Apparel and textiles products

- Household linens

- Footwear

- Paper products

- Plastic bottles and their screw caps

- Tins & cans
