Happy mum

My son is 6 and I really struggle to get him school trousers to fit, we either have to get a age bigger which means they're too long, or the plus fit but I always find they're too baggy. These were a lovely fit, enough room at the waist but normal through the leg. He's not 'big' by any means so it really annoys me I have to buy 'plus fit', but these are definitely a good compromise

great school trousers
Yes, I recommend this
I bought them for my 2 nephew's as normal size trousers were uncomfortable round their waist. They fitted them perfectly round the waist &only had to alter length for 1 of the boys. Good buy and wish they were available in store

Trouble finding trousers for my son
Yes, I recommend this
When my son started Comprehensive school I had a terrible time finding trousers to fit. He hated being dragged around the shops to try on. The problem I had was if they fitted on the waist they were too long. He is in no way big but supermarket makes tended to be scrimp on him whilst generous fits were often much to big. These trousers from M&S are perfect fit. They are lovely quality and look smart they are still adjustable on waist and the option of the extra length if needed is easy to do and useful. This pair I ordered are to replace a pair he managed to make a hole in when he fell mucking around in school. I don't think anybody's make would have withstood that! At least instead of shopping around I knew where to go and order a replacement straight away and they came the next.

Super fit for larger lads
Yes, I recommend this
My son has a bit of a belly so has to go a size or 2 larger on trousers. I find these school trousers are the only ones that also look good on the leg too. There is no baggy clown look. Fabric nice quality too. Hem very handy if child is super tall.

Have they changed?
No, I don't recommend this
Having always bought plus fit from M&S I did so again getting the next age up as my son is growing taller by the day. To my disappointment the new size was actually smaller around his middle and hips than the old size. Sent them straight back and have bought from elsewhere.

Nice trousers
Yes, I recommend this
My son is tall for age ten but also still has a little tummy. He has muscular rugby boy thighs too so school trousers are tricky to get which are comfortable for him to play football and ride his bike in but also look good. We do the look good bit but then he eventually manages to split them under the zip doing boys stuff which is frustrating. These give more room without being mega baggy in the leg region as they are slim leg. They are a bit big around the waist but they are easily pulled in. The main thing is that he thinks they are comfortable, they look smart and he hasn't split them doing boys stuff... Yet. Cost wise... I think they are quite expensive but you can't have everything can you?!

Great for slightly chubby boys
Yes, I recommend this
My 11-year old finds normal school trousers too tight at the waist so I tried these in his usual size (11-12 y) and they were a perfect fit! He's a bit chubby but not hugely so. I would say they are designed for chunky body shapes rather than obese children. Very pleased that I've found a pair of good fitting school trousers!

Great school trousers
Yes, I recommend this
These plus fit trousers are a much better fit than the standard ones, without the pulling across the front and the pockets gaping open.

My twin sons are on the large size, so these plus size trousers are great. I have bought M&S school trousers on numerous occasions and they are fine.

Why reduce waist size for plus fit garment?
No, I don't recommend this
My grandson had a pair last year and they fit perfectly. For some strange reason the waist size has been reduced by 5cm this year so they are too tight and have had to be returned.

School trousers that fit perfectly!
Yes, I recommend this
My son is a lot taller and generally a bit bigger than the average 7 year old. He's 4 foot 4!! Finding school trousers that not only fit but are comfortable is a struggle- well not anymore! These are a little bit too long for him however it won't be long before he's grown again. Thank you marks and Spencer's, you have saved me from a battle!

Great school trousers with straight legs, look good on, though they come up bigger than the size guide.

I had real difficulty finding trousers to fit my son this year; he's going through a growth spurt. I'll be honest, I didn't want to pay this much (£12?) for one pair of school trousers. I ended up with the slim fit leg as the standard were out of stock but am completely happy with the style. The waist currently has to be taken in by a couple of buttons and they come with the adjustable hem as well, which will no doubt come in very handy by half term! The quality is standard M&S and - whilst they've only been washed once to date - I feel they will continue to wash well. Size-wise, I ordered ages 10 and 11 (for a tall 9 year old who's 'solid' like a rugby player) and the 10 fits with room for growth. Good product but the price is still a bit of a sticking point for me...

Plus size boys school trousers
Yes, I recommend this
We bought these trousers last year aswell because they were the best fit of the plus size that we found. Although about an inch shorter in the rise than we would have liked. Our Son was 5 and he was wearing age 7-8, we have bought this size again (holes in knees at the end of the last school year from football etc in the play ground) and of course have had to have all 5 pairs shortened. Overall good trousers, washed well and held their shape all year.

Item OK, but can't use vouchers

Back to school time is very expensive time for parents. I was appauled that I couldn't use my M&S clothing reward voucher on school uniforms.

Fit well but terrible creased after washing
No, I don't recommend this
These trousers fit my son very well but the fabric creases in the wash. Every time I wash them I am shocked at how creased they look on the washing line. Will not go for 'Stormwear' next time.
