Bought for v.slim Grandson
Yes, I recommend this
These look lovely on and very trendy. We tried a normal fit on him and he looked like a clown They have lasted a whole year, my only wish is that they did different lengths in the slim fit as well because he still needs age 4 for fit but they are too short. Age 5 look massive on him.

Good slim fit
Yes, I recommend this
These are a good slim fit for my slim 4 year old, still have to bunch the waist in a bit, but much better than the supermarket ones I tried, The material feels nice and thick as well, overall very happy with this purchase

Oh dear....what's happened M&S
No, I don't recommend this
Recently purchased some grey and black style of these trousers in two different sizes for my Son's. I have always bought these slim fit trousers as I have two slim fit Son's. The quality of the material is very poor. The worst thing...the fabric is so thin they crease so easily. They really won't last very long. The sizing has now changed from individual ages to dual sizing making it more difficult to get the sizing correct. Such a shame my beloved M&S you really must listen to your loyal customers. Please revert back to a better quality of fabric. Shocking quality and at £8-11 (I purchased 8 pairs) a pair not exactly Supermarket prices either!

Disappoined with the 2013 version
No, I don't recommend this
I agree with a lot of the reviews about these trousers. I bought 3 pairs in 2012 and they lasted the school year. The only shame was my son grew so they were too small. However, the 3 pairs I bought in 2013 haven't faired so well. On 2 of the pairs the hem has dropped and needed restitching and the 3rd pair stitching has failed around the bottom. Considering the wear and tear expected between 5 and 6, I feel the later veriosn haven't faired as well and are inferior quality to 2012 but you do get what you paid for!

Does the job
Yes, I recommend this
I bought these as they were about the only school trousers I could get for my little boy who was only just 3 when starting school so I got size 2-3. He is only slim but tall so to try and find a good fit in both waist size and length was difficult and these were a great option. They are quite fitted down to the ankle but still just about wide enough at the bottom to go over the top of boots, they have elasticated waist ideal for the slimmer waist but they don't look too bunched up even when pulled in. The quality is fine for me and haven't had any problems with material. As others have said I have now noticed a hem on its way down but what with Velcro shoes/boots it's hardly a wonder, I would normally oversew anyway. We are now ready to go into size 3-4 for the length but could have stayed in 2-3 for the fit. Would recommend these trousers though. Perhaps a length option would be a good idea.

Would recommend with reservation.

I bought these trousers for my visiting grandson who had fallen at school and put his knee through those he was wearing. As he is five and needs clean trousers most days, I thought it a good idea to replace the torn ones. I am informed that after only a couple of washes the hem on one leg was down. You get what you pay for in this world. I just wish that there was an option to pay more for better quality. They will serve their purpose but I would suggest that anyone buying them also invest in some iron on hem tape!.

Slightly disappointing but still good value
Yes, I recommend this
I have purchased this product for the past 3 years. I am slightly disappointed because "small" was not available this year, which meant alterations and, the fabric quality is much lighter weight & therefore less sturdy for winter wear. Apart from those points both I and my grandson are very happy and will continue purchase this product.

The perfect for for our 2-3 year old- slim fit and look perfect! All other trousers were far to loose/baggy and long!

Appalling Fabric Quality
No, I don't recommend this
Bought these Sept 2012 for my son and was really impressed with them. He had 3 pairs worn continually until May and they are still in good condition. I was really disappointed when they were out of stock before the start of term so settled for the slim leg version instead. However after only 6 weeks wear they were threadbare so I returned them for an exchange and was pleased that slim fit were back in stock so ordered them as a replacement. Collected them Sunday and am shocked at the poor quality of the fabric. They are noticeably thinner and lighter than last year's trousers and I can't see them lasting very long at all. He had to wear a pair this morning as we had no alternative but will be returning the others. It's such a shame as the fit is ideal but they are clearly not of the same standard as last year's stock. Will have to try elsewhere.

Shocking Quality!
No, I don't recommend this
I am so appalled with the quality of these that I am putting in a complaint. My 4 year old son wore a pair of these 5 times and the hem has totally come undone. The material is paper thin and doesn't last 5 minutes. I purchased these last term and found them to be fantastic and great quality.....so let down this year and will not be using M&S again.

Poor Quality
No, I don't recommend this
Very poor quality fabric, when I held the black trousers up to the light I could see right through them. They've been sent back. I went for wool blend slim leg for my eldest two but that is not available for age 8 so I'm afraid I'm going to have to purchase elsewhere for him. Very disappointing.

Not as good as last year
No, I don't recommend this
I agree with previous reviewers that the quality has gone down. I've been buying this design (or its previous incarnations) for the last few years for my slim-fit son and have always been very pleased with them. This year the material seems thinner. We've swapped from grey to black (new school), but that shouldn't affect the quality of the material. Have bought the similar M&S slim-fit wool blend ones instead - well worth the extra couple of pounds.

Very disappointed

Bought 4 pairs of these trousers after loving the quality of last years and they are well below what I would expect from m&s. they are very thin and flimsy and for boys who spend time diving about on knees and doing 'boy' things, these are no where near up to scratch! I returned all 4 pairs. Bring back last years slim leg cargo trousers please!

Change in quality
No, I don't recommend this
Have been buying these trousers for several years due to the quality and cut. Perfect for skinny boy. Was previously buyer the modern fit trousers which are no longer available. The quality of the fabric in these is poor compared to previous trousers. Now a high percent of cotton. They feel very flimsy. Not holding out much hope for them lasting. Keeping hold of receipt just in case!!!
