Trousers for a tall skinny young man!!
Yes, I recommend this
I looked at all the reviews for the school trousers as my 15 yr old son is tall & very thin. I chose these trousers on the strength of reviews & the fact that they have some wool in them. I have to say that they are horribly shiney but my son doesn't seem to care! I've tightened the waist band quite a lot but this morning I thought they looked like they might fall off so I hope they will tighten further!!

Good trousers
Yes, I recommend this
My son prefered these to the skinny ones. They have the ability to hang off his bottom with a low belt !!! Good quality, zipped back pocket so good for pocket money.

Why change a good product?
No, I don't recommend this
I have been buying these trousers for my two sons for the last few years - 45% wool mix. Very hard wearing, warm and a good fit. However, came to purchase this year and noticed the fabric didn't seem the same. Label revealed only 13% wool. Needless to say I didn't buy them. I have found that if you want 45% wool mix trousers both Next and John lewis stock them. Unfortunately M&S have once again changed a good product and replaced it with a cheaper version.

disappointing-hardly any wool!
No, I don't recommend this
I purchased these wool blend trousers having been happy with them from the previous year. I thought the material felt rather thin and then looked at the content-hardly any wool in the wool blend trousers, unlike last year. I will be returning them for a refund. Disappointing

Disappointed
No, I don't recommend this
I was very disappointed with this years wool blend trousers. The wool content is tiny, 13% compared to 45% last year. There is no mention on the website of the material composition. The material looks thinner and does not look or feel as good. I have always bought M&S wool blend trousers for school as they are harder wearing (the last pair lasted a year) on the knees compared other products. The size has also change so I will have to return the pair I have bought for a smaller size.

Another Disappointed Mum
No, I don't recommend this
I, along with many other reviewers of this product, have been buying M&S wool-blend trousers for many years & found them to be an excellent product. They looked good from the start of the school year to the end. However, I am not so sure this will be the case with the wool-blend trousers I've bought this year. The material feels harsh & the wool content negligible. Why do you have to change a great product? I am also unhappy with the sizing. Age 4-5 is huge compared to other M&S trousers which, if anything, have been on the small side for the age range. Having to keep this size for next year & purchase smaller ones for this year. Silver lining is that you won't be getting my money for no. 2 son's trousers next year!!

very disappointing
No, I don't recommend this
Bought these for my son last year and they were of fantastic quality. This year I am shocked at the poor quality. Material feels fine, fit and sizing quite good, but I had to return the two pairs I bought within the first few days of my child wearing them. My son is quite slim and on the first day back to school when adjusting the elasticated waist the elastic ripped! I noticed that the elastic seems of much poorer quality than on the pair I purchased last year. Moving onto the second pair, he wore them for two days after which I noticed that the hem had not been sewn fully on the bottom of one of the trouser legs! Have been really inconvenienced with these problems. M & S, we come to you for quality, please, please provide it!

Woolblend trousers
No, I don't recommend this
Have been buying woolblend trousers from M&S for several years and are very disappointed that they have reduced the wool content. We use M&S and happy to pay a bit more for quality and don't understand why they have taken the route of reducing their quality. Tesco this year have a higher wool content trouser.

Great comfort and fit
Yes, I recommend this
These are the best school trousers I've found for my son. They are hardwearing (very) and always look smart. The wool fabric makes them more comfortable and breathable. Definitely recommend this great product.

Poor wool content
No, I don't recommend this
I've purchased M&S wool-blend boys school trousers for several years, and been really pleased with the quality. They lasted all year. I ordered this year's trousers on-line as our nearest M&S store (40 mile round trip away in Perth, made a special journey) unusually had hardly any back-to-school stock in, as 'everyone purchases on-line these days' said the sales assistant. The quality wasn't what I expected - just 13% wool this year as opposed to 45% last year. I bought age 8, based on the on-line size guide, for my tall 8 year old (who is taller in fact fact that the standard 8 year old envisaged in the M&S sizing guide) but the trousers were massive, at least 8 cm too long, and pooled round his feet.

School Uniform
No, I don't recommend this
Had a disaster with M & S's uniform last year - non-iron shirts that always needed ironed, trousers that were the dearest in the range but of poor, shabby quality, shoes that had fallen apart by October. Had a quick look at the range for this year and was disappointed to see that, yet again, the emphasis is on cheap and rubbish. Not every parent wants cheap, thin clothes. I like my boys to go to school in warm, wool mix trousers - essential in the Scottish winter and would willingly pay a bit more for superior fabrics. Not much choice of that here. It is lamentable that a store which used to pride itself on quality has gone down the Primark / New Look route of thin and shoddy looking clothes. That is why I have just spent three hundred pound on uniform on the John Lewis site. Bye bye M & S.

Don't change what works!
No, I don't recommend this
Very disappointed that your have modified these trousers. I regularly bought these due to the wool content, being more breathable, warmer in winter, and simply they looked better and didn't deteriorate through wear and tear in the same way that your synthetic ones did. Your other trousers wear at the knee whereas these didn't. When will you stop changing what works? Focus on getting your quality right and price accordingly rather than reducing quality to make them cheaper to buy. I won't be buying these any longer.

Wool blend trousers used to be great
No, I don't recommend this
I have bought wool blend trousers for the past 4 yrs, brilliant, never Shrank, ironed to perfection, worn clean daily still look brand new! Cool, comfortable, great fit & never frayed or worn through the knees. Had to replace 1 pair (cut by scissors), wool blend unavailable size so replaced with M&S £9 pair - poor quality hem frayed due to normal wear, uncomfortable & not as breathable as woollen blend. I am sorely disapppointed to learn that I will not be able to purchase these trousers again. M&S please advise why this is so - your cheaper options are not up to scratch and I would like to know where I can source the equivalent, I have been a loyal customer for four years, delighted by the quality and have told other parents so too!". Rating the revised option low as there will be less than 20% wool content.

I too have bought wool blend trousers for many years but having read the reviews I will not be buying them this year - stop diluting the quality and fit of your products M&S

STOP CHANGING THINGS!
No, I don't recommend this
Have been buying M&S wool blend, pleat front school trousers for many years and both my boys loved them. Suddenly that product is no longer available, and this is the only other option (school doesn't allow skinny ones). These are rubbish compared to the old range. Weird size and poor quality fabric. Bring back the wool blend, pleat-fronted trousers we knew and loved!

Too much wool for comfort
No, I don't recommend this
These trousers wash well, tunmble dry well, ad wear well. They also look very smart. But my son finds them too uncomfortable and chaffing on his thighs, which i think is due to the wool content. I purposely bought school trousers with a bit of wool in them, so that they would hang well and be warm for winter and hardwearing, but I won't buy these trousers again. They haven't softened much with washing either.

Disappointing this year
No, I don't recommend this
Ordered wool blend last year and they have been excellent, hardwearing and still look like new. However this year's is a very different product. Last year was 55% poly, 45% wool - this year, 60% poly 13% wool and the rest viscose. What a drop in wool content! Also sizing wise the next size up is huge compared to the previous size and whilst my son is outgrowing the current size, he is nowhere near fitting the next size up. There is supposed to be half and inch growth in the waist band but the difference is vast! Much more than that. And we buy a lot of other marks and spencers clothes and he happily fits clothes within that size normally but these school trousers are so much bigger in the waist and in length than the normal ranges. So these are going to have to go back and we will have to look at other ranges. What an unnecessary hassle caused by the alteration and therefore spoiling of a previously excellent product.
