Best school trousers

Yes, I recommend this

My son is 5 and recently started school. He has long legs but is quite skinny so I bought trousers age 4/5 with the longer leg. They fitted perfect, nice and neat round his waist and hips and a great leg length. Definitely recommend and will be buying more of these.

Extremely well made...pockets a little sparse

Yes, I recommend this

Sadly, had to return, simply because son getting 'Chris Hoy' thighs, due to the sports he participates in. These trousers are wonderful quality, for the price, except our son said the pockets were a bit sparse...he likes roomy pockets in his school trousers! Purchased age 13 for an age 11. Length was perfect. Waist was perfect. Probably best to visit store for initial fitting re school trousers but work constraints made this difficult. Did order equivalent from other suppliers and ended up sticking with seller we've used for last 5 years. Not quite as good quality, but bigger pockets and perfect fit.

A good buy

Yes, I recommend this

These are the second set of school trousers I have purchased from M&S. They wash and wear well, the material is strong enough to withstand all that my son can put them through. From tree climbing, football to being covered in paint and glue they have washed well and continued to look smart until they were grown out of. The elasticated waist and shorter length option are most useful features and I shall be purchasing again when the time comes.

Good fit, if a little light in quality

Yes, I recommend this

Good long length for a lanky 13 year old. (14 extra long siza). Nice shape and styling but not quite as heavy a fabric as I would have expected. Not that it matters to my son who doesn't feel the cold. Perfect for concerts which are indoor but I wouldn't buy them for everyday wear.

School trousers to last

Yes, I recommend this

Excellent fit for a 5yr old, tall boy! Adjustable waist means they can be pulled in to fit a tall, slim build. Great length - should last the rest of the year!

Excellent fit

Yes, I recommend this

These trousers (size 6-7) fit my 6 year old son well - they are long enough with a bit of room for growth, fit nicely around the waist and leg. He looks very smart in them. The only issue (like with all trousers) is that they will start to fade after a few months around the knee. However, I have never found trousers that don't fade around the knee, no matter how good reviews are. My son seems to spend a lot of time on his knees - but at least the fit is excellent and they are comfortable. The crease stays even after washing - I hardly iron them.

great trousers but not same size as last year

Yes, I recommend this

M&S you know you are a very loved shop! BUT why don't you keep the winning formulas? Last year I ordered 7years long and perfect fit! This year, my son still skinny I tried to order 7yrs long but not there, you now make 7-8 yrs so its baggy bum which looks awful on my otherwise handsome boy. Yes, take note, some boys are skinny and tall!!!

Why change your sizing

No, I don't recommend this

I needed a pair of size 9 trousers in a longer length. I have three pairs to hand down to my younger son and they fit perfectly but are a little worn so I wanted a couple of fresh pairs too. You no longer have a size 9 longer length so I order a 8-9 and 9-10 in the longer length. I expected one size to fit perfectly but neither pair were suitable. I have no idea what to do now and I will probably need to look elsewhere. What should have been a simple task has become a chore. Not pleased !!!!

Lower quality than in previous years

No, I don't recommend this

I bought these exact same trousers last year for my average height slim son, choosing one size smaller than his age, but in the longer leg length. Last year I was really pleased with both the fit and quality. This year I did the same, ie. ordered age 11-12 long for my slim 12-13 yo who is 150cm tall. The trousers look and feel very cheap, despite being made of the same materials as last year's trousers, the fabric is woven differently and is very thin. The manufacturer seems to have attempted to spread the fabric thinner by shoring it up with too much of the 'stormwear' chemical coating. The fit is also worse. My son does need to use the adjustable waistband (as he did last year), but this year's trousers have excessive cloth giving a baggy bottom! The length is barely 1cm longer than last year's trousers, so while they fit now they won't last him for the whole year. M&S - PLEASE make trousers for normal slim boys! There are lots of reviewers saying this. Not all children are obese!

Good trousers, dubious sizings

Yes, I recommend this

This is my first time buying these trousers. They are nice quality and feel nice to touch and a pleasant style. My gripe is with sizings.I struggle to get my small slim boy school trousers to fit anywhere and the wool blend ones we got in the next size up are far too large! So we decided to buy this range in the age he is still in but in a longer leg to achieve a longer leg length for him to grow into. These are an improvement but they are still a little baggy round the bottom when the waist is pulled in to fit him. And are m and s school trousers realistic sizes when my 5.5 year old is having to buy age 2-3 long leg length trousers to fit him? He is small but has been in 3-4 years for a while for his other trousers and tops at m&S (since last september). Yet 2-3 year waists for the uniform have to be pulled in and look baggy round the bottom! I'm not sure what is going on. I might try the slim fit trousers and see if they are any better, otherwise these will be ok!

Please do more XL M&S!

Yes, I recommend this

Good school trouser although slightly thin. Slightly more trendy style than pleat ones. XL 14-15 and 15-16 always seem to be out of stock - especially on promotion days!! Please do more XL M&S, tall thin teenagers need a choice of trousers that fit.
