ABOUT THIS WINE: This splendid red Rioja was made from a blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo grapes, grown in a single vineyard estate in the Alavesa area of this world-famous Spanish wine region. The estate lies in a spectacular meander of the River Ebro in an area that produces perfectly rich, ripe grapes, giving it great balance and finesse. It was matured in a mix of French and American oak barrels for at least 24 months. The winemaker was Jesús Madrazo.

SERVING: Serve at room temperature. The best moment for this wine would be with roast leg of lamb, but also try it with pork casserole or hard cheeses such as farmhouse Cheddar or Spanish Manchego.
KEEPING: Rioja is traditionally aged in the barrel and in bottle before release so is ready to drink on purchase. However, this rich wine will keep well for a further 2 years if stored correctly. Once opened, finish in 3 days, keeping the bottle resealed in a cool, dark place between servings.

This shows what rioja can be at its best but nowadays often is not.
Not cheap but worth every penny. I have never been disappointed by Contino.

I was lucky enough to receive a bottle of this wine as a gift and absolutely loved it!
It is the best Rioja I have tasted- smooth with a long finish and full of flavour.
