From your best friend’s country nuptials to a dreamy beach wedding, stylist and blogger Alex Stedman has created four failsafe looks for party-ready perfection

The exotic beach do

“A destination wedding is tricky to dress for – you have to balance the holiday feel with a smart dress code,” says Alex. “For me, an easy, breezy, off-the-shoulder style () is the perfect compromise – showing just enough skin, yet still keeping it relatively formal. Just add a sunhat for those effortless boho vibes.”

The city wedding

“Wearing black is a bit of a taboo to some, but for an urban ceremony, it’s perfect,” says Alex. “Separates, like this top and skirt () make a great alternative to a dress, and look extra chic with a tailored jacket as a cover-up. Think beyond the dancefloor and you can mix and match them into your work and weekend wardrobes, too; and if you want to add some personality, have fun with your accessories.”

The traditional country affair

“When it comes to occasionwear, you can’t go wrong with florals, especially for a classic wedding invite,” reveals Alex. “For a fresh spin, choose designs that have a cut-out detail or an interesting hemline – and if the print is particularly bold, be sure to keep the rest of the outfit simple with minimal accessories. I love the hair here (): a quick topknot will draw attention to the statement neckline.”

“FLORALS are a no-brainer
for country weddings – add an
element of cool with effortless
hair and make-up”

The ultra-modern nuptials

“Who says you have to wear a dress for a wedding? I'm a big fan of a trouser suit, and love this season’s trend for mixing and matching a blazer with pyjama-style pants,” says Alex. “Look for loose-fit trousers made from luxe fabrics to keep it smart, then team with a slinky metallic vest for a super-modern take on wedding-season dressing.”
