Smart Seersucker Bedding Set

I bought this duvet set last October for the guest bedroom and only now having washed it I realise what a mistake has been made in the manufacture. The top of the cover is made of a stretch seersucker material which after washing is much smaller than the underneath of the cover thereby making it impossible to fit the duvet properly. I have tried to steam iron it to make it the same size but it is impossible. I plan to return it to the store on our next visit as it is not fit for purpose ....and was not cheap at £65!! I do have the receipt so shouldn't have a problem returning it........ but I feel that the lady who didn't have a receipt should still return it as it ' is not fit for purpose' and she has spent alot of money for something that is unuseable. Sorry M & S but you should do a wash test on your bedlinen !!! I notice it is now out of stock....has it been withdrawn I wonder?

I am surprised that the previous reviews for this item, which I read a couple of months ago, have disappeared. None of them were complimentary. I bought a king sized bed set for a king sized duvet on a standard double bed and the cover has shrunk to such an extent that the duvet barely reaches to the bottom of the bed. Ironing is a nightmare. I can only assume that M&S don't read these reviews. I would expect them to do there own field tests and see for themselves that these items are simply not fit for purpose. I am only sorry that I mislaid the receipt and therefore cannot return them. I will have to throw them away, as they are more trouble than they are worth.

It looks and feels fresh and the seersucker material means there are no creases.

First I must say, I usually love M&S bedlinen and this is a gorgeous brilliant white bedset, which looked lovely when I took it out of the packet. As with all new bed linen I popped it straight into the washing machine. When it came to ironing I immediately knew there was a problem. The elastic quality of the seersucker made the top of the quilt cover smaller than the reverse, and with no end of pulling I could not get the two to meet. After about 30 minutes ironing I gave up and put the set away. This morning I have put the set on the bed. The elasticity means the quilt does not fit properly in the cover, it looks all lumpy and horrible. I wish I had not bought this set, and would not recommend it, as an alternative try one of the wide striped sets, they seem fine.
