IT’S TIME TO RETHINK PINK

Can the colour you wear really affect your mood? We quizzed a professor of psychology to find out

If you’ve experienced the instant pick-me-up of a vibrant sweater or a look-at-me lipstick, you’ll know that the colours we wear can have a big impact on the way we feel. “The way we dress is a powerful form of non-verbal communication, meaning there’s no easier way to make a statement – or affect our mood – than through clothing,” says professor of psychology at the University of Hertfordshire, Karen Pine. Pink conveys a sense of fun, although darker shades are more assertive, says Karen. Fuchsia pink is therefore a brilliant way to demonstrate confidence without looking like you take yourself too seriously. Try wearing head-to-toe for an unforgettable date-night look.
