GINGER PARRISH’S THANKSGIVING STYLE

The countdown to Thanksgiving has begun. We asked blogger and mum-of-three Ginger Parrish, founder of Parrish Place, to share her tips on getting the most out of every outfit in your closet over the holidays. THE LITTLE BLACK JUMPSUIT

“Thanksgiving is my favourite holiday, and this year we’ll be spending it with my family. Going back home never gets old.

“I choose my Thanksgiving outfits by first thinking ‘cosy’. We live in Utah where the weather changes every other day, and Thanksgiving is that tipping point, right before it starts to snow. I do my best to layer up and keep warm but still be put-together. That’s why I’ve selected statement coats and fun accessories to keep things fresh.

“Trends come and go, but a classic black dress or jumpsuit will kick around in my closet for ages. Timeless pieces like these are easy to dress up or down. Plus, I like to be able to play on the ground with the kids and not feel like my outfit is getting in the way. This jumpsuit is perfect for that.”

FEELGOOD FLORALS

“I chose this dress because I knew it would work both for our Thanksgiving dinner and a Thanksgiving party at school – I’ll just switch up the shoes. The handbag adds the perfect finishing touch to the outfit. For me, accessories are the best part of every look. I tend to aim for minimal pieces that go with multiple outfits. I don’t want them to overtake the clothes, but complement them with their simplicity.

“I get my style inspration from my mother. She keeps it simple and classic, yet not too over the top. I remember growing up, Mom and Dad would go shopping the day after Thanksgiving. We would meet them halfway through the day to pick out gifts for my siblings. Now, as a mother myself, I cosy up in comfy loungewear and put up the Christmas tree, or bundle up and go for a ride up the mountains.”

CLASSIC WITH A TWIST

“When I overdress, I’m not myself. So my tip for feeling stylish on the big day? Be yourself. Try to pair some statement shoes, like these pink sneakers, with an everyday look. Throw on a peacoat and a bright lip. That way, you’ll be able to focus on the people you’re with, rather than the outfit you’re wearing.”
