How to make your own s’mores

This gorgeously gooey sweet treat is a Bonfire Night favourite that’s easy to make at home. Be inspired with our tasty recipe ideas, perfect for the whole family to try

Oh-so s’moreish

S’mores – melty, chocolatey, marshmallow-filled American creations that have made their way to this side of the pond – are totally irresistible, and so easy to make at home. In fact, you only need three ingredients: biscuits, marshmallows and chocolate (or chocolate spread).

Here’s how to make them.

You will need: biscuits or cookies; chocolate, chocolate spread or M&S milk and cookies chocolate spread; marshmallows; tin foil

1. Sandwich a marshmallow and a square of chocolate or some chocolate spread between two biscuits.

2. Wrap the whole thing up in a square of tin foil.

3. Heat the oven at 180°C/160°C fan/gas mark 4 for around 2 minutes – the marshmallow and chocolate will go amazingly melty and gooey.

S’more inspiration

Once you’ve mastered the basic recipe, get creative with your biscuits and fillings. Kids will love to help choose what to make, too.

Try these irresistible ideas, or make up your own with whatever you have in the cupboard:

  • Double chocolate: swap the biscuits for chocolate chip cookies dipped in melted chocolate, and fill with marshmallows and chocolate spread or a square of chocolate.
  • PBJ: fill biscuits with a slice of banana, peanut butter, and a spoonful of jam.
  • Chocolate bar s’mores: fill biscuits with pieces of your chocolate bar or biscuit.
  • Savoury s’mores: fill oatcakes or crackers with a slice of cheese (soft cheeses such as brie work well) and a spoonful of chutney.
