Homegrown heroes

The good life? We found it in quality British ingredients this month, and stolen moments to enjoy them in – welcome to our celebration of the best of British

Use your loaf

We all know you can't beat a beautifully baked fresh loaf with a pat of creamy butter, so we hope you'll trust us when we say that going back to basics has never tasted so good with our new Cheddar and Red Leicester cob spread thickly with new Cornish sea salt butter, which is created from rich, creamy Cornish gold-top milk. Turn it into a ploughman’s lunch with new Golden Cenarth, a nutty, semi-soft cheese, matured with organic cider for depth of flavour. It goes wonderfully with our spiced carrot chutney And to drink? Try our NEW Kentish pip cider, made with a single variety of Discovery apple, it has all the appeal of a light and fresh, floral wine.

Autumnal ideas

Fresh from the orchards

With summer on the wane, we’re all about savouring those final sundowners in the garden and toasting the arrival of autumn with a fruity (and alcohol-free) seasonal sip. And thanks to this sparkling trio, we can all enjoy a non-alcoholic tipple with the sophisticated flavour pairings of a mixologist-crafted cocktail. Sweet stone fruits are partnered with earthy juniper in our NEW Plum, damson and juniper pressé, while NEW Apple, cherry and pink peppercorn sparkling juice drink, packs a peppery, aromatic punch. With warming ginger and the subtle caramel of maple syrup, our NEW Pear, maple and ginger pressé offers all the flavours of an autumnal country walk. We'll raise a glass to that!

Our very own award-winning wine

An all-English affair

If you ever need a reason to celebrate, you should keep in mind that English wines scooped a record number of awards this year. It's time to give your wine rack a makeover with these three unmissable picks

HEAVEN SCENT
Aromas of elderflower and May blossom in English White Lily recall an early English summer, with hints of grapefruit adding a zesty note. It’s from the family-run Denbies Wine Estate in Surrey, where the grapesgrow on the chalky slopes of the North Downs. It’s a flawless match for goat’s cheese or smoked salmon

BERRY BURST
Not many English producers make red wine given our cooler climate, but it’s winemaker Sam Linter’s speciality at The Bolney Estate in Sussex, where sheltering woodland and warming sandstone soils work their magic. Full of mixed berry notes and with a subtle smokiness, The Bolney Estate Linter’s Red is a triumph with duck a blackberry sauce.

CRISP CITRUS
Surpassing most champagnes, Ridgeview Marksman sparkling wine leaps out of the glass, with notes of citrus and apple softened by a buttery brioche flavour. Made at award-winning Ridgeview Wine Estate in Sussex by Simon and Tamara Roberts, it was our first choice for serving at the Observer Food Monthly Awards, which we’re sponsoring for the next three years
